I got them four days ago and have tried everything I have been told to treat fleas on 5 week old kittens. I have washed them once with kitten shampoo, washed them twice with dove soap and have combed them with flea combs more than you can imagine. Although I am not finding many I still find a few and I know that they lay eggs very quickly. I have even removed the kittens and used flea bombs in my house to prevent the kittens from getting any fleas that have fallen off them in the house. Tonight I also put baby oil on them and combed them. Please HELP!!!

I work in a cat shelter and we apply Advantage to kittens as young as three weeks. I would suggest you do something like that really soon so the kittens will not become anemic. They may also already have tapeworms from the fleas!!!!! Maybe a trip to the vet is in order!!! They need to be wormed for roundworms too!!!!!

I'm a vet tech in an area where there is a huge flea problem. You can use a vet approved product on your kittens at that age. DO NOT use products from grocery stores or Wal-Mart, they are poisenous. Only vet approved products should be used. The kittens do need to be wormed soon to. You can use Dawn dish soap to kill the fleas but I would try to get the flea product first. Young kittens can get respiratory illnesses at this age so a bath wouldn't be ideal. Treat your home and yard as well. For every flea you see there are 1,000 more adults and eggs in the enviroment. Good Luck! Continuous treatment will keep them safe in the future.

A bath in lavender oil can help. you may want to call your vet and ask about a kitten safe revolution/advantix treatment. Remember also that the kittens are not the only source of fleas in your home. You and your family can be bringing them in from outside. Get a spray for the yard, especially if there has been an outbreak of fleas in your area.

Keep an eye on your kittens gums. If they start to lose color take your kittens to the vet ASAP. Kittens and puppies face a risk of anemia from flea infestations.

My aunt swears that dawn dishwashing liquid does great on her small dog. I saw her wash Pooky and saw all the fleas coming off. I was amazed. So if you can't take your kitten to the vet today to get advantage or something like that and have Dawn try that. Also you can get advantage and other topical flea meds online without having to pay for an office visit to a vet.

Try using mayonaise or something similar, put it all over the kitten leave on for 1/2 to 1 hour then wash off with dawn dishwashing dish soap. The mayo smothers the eggs and fleas and then try brewers yeast and galic powder in their food and water. Good luck

You need to get Advantage or something like that from a veterinarian or a low-cost clinic (we have one here anyway). You squeeze a small tube full onto the back of their necks (where they can't get to it), and it not only kills fleas and ticks, but it keeps them from getting back on your kittens for a month. It is the only thing that I've ever used that really works. If you have to get it from a vet, it is kind of expensive, but well worth it. Also, I have tried products from like Wal-Mart in the past, and ended up having to take my cat to the vet because it was poisoning her. Hope this helps. Good luck!

You need to get them to the vet immediately.
Fleas can cause anemia in young kittens and even kill them.

Your vet can help you best. Do NOT use over the counter stuff that you find at Walmart. That flea stuff doesn't work and it can kill your cats.

Front line does best, I use it with my cats, but not sure how early on it can be used with the kittens. Again, ask your vet.

DO NOT put garlic in their food. Garlic damages the red blood cells and can cause hemolytic anemia.

Get them to a vet to see if they're large enough for Advantage, Frontline, Revolution or another flea medicine your vet offers. They should be.

You need to get them to a vet ASAP. Fleas on kittens that young can kill them.

5 weeks old is too young for kittens to leave there mom. Get shampoo's that can get rid of lice, and make shure there o.k. for kittens. Or go to your vet for more advice.
