I think the bible was created for people with insecurities and for people who need to know that life isnt just 'you live, you die'.
I think religion has done good by giving people faith and making people happier from within but the number of bad it has done totally outways the positives.
In my eyes religion causes war and conflict, the sooner people realise this, the faster we will have less suicide bombers.

Most importantly, it needs to be understood that organized RELIGION is completely separate from your belief in God. Religion is BAD. I am an atheist, but theism is not bad at all. It is just another opinion and an interesting one! But the point is RELIGION causes holy wars, the Crusades, corruption, hatred, the Vatican yielding too much power, no condoms for people with AIDS (as if God would rather they die of AIDS), cults, religious sects and of course TERRORISM and fundamentalism craziness, and also political barriers in our Congress with the religious right. BELIEF isn't bad, but associating yourself with the powerful Catholic church, for example, is not best for society overall. They try to spread their beliefs and convert others by force and some Christians by going door-to-door (annoying Jehovah's Witnesses).

Point is, it doesn't matter what you believe, as long as you're happy. And there isn't anything terrible about being a Roman Catholic or whatever organized religion you want. But it is easy to see to problems religions have caused the world and are causing. (Israel-Palestine etc)

If people were tolerant of others, there would not be this big problem. Religions need some reform. The BAD qualities do outweight the GOOD. There isn't really any good qualities inherent to RELIGION. Allow me to clarify. The good qualities come from following Jesus Christ, the Bible, and everything else according to the theists. You don't have to be in an organized religion to get into Heaven. Which is why everyone could still have their salvation if there were no religions, and then all those bad things associated with religion would be gone if religion was gone, but all the GOOD things would still be there using BELIEF.

Don't know, but it seems to me that when some people skew the meanings of their religious writings and people follow blindly, bad things happen.
