The bad thing about living in a small town is the lack of good jobs the only way that you typically can make a good living in them is to work for yourself.

Why is everyone on here getting down on her for being a single mom. Most women are not single mothers by choice but because the man skipped out on his responsibilities!
How is she suppose to move if she doesn't have a job? Where would you suggest she get the money from? Geesh!
You are in one heck of a predicament and I feel for you. Would it be possible to babysit kids in your home or something like that temporarily. At least until you get enough money to move, or purchase a car/better car so that you can commute to a larger town.
You can also apply for day care assistance with the department of human services. That way you could put your children in day care while you were looking for a job. Have you checked out the unemployment office in your area? They have a lot of helpfull programs and jobs available to people.
Good Luck!

I have the same problem...I even went to technical school and still cannot find a job that pays more than 10 dollars an hour. Yet the cost of living has gone up dramatically. Friends of mine that went to actual college are having the same problem. They all live at home with their parents and cant get decent paying jobs.
To answer your question: Job market is flooded. At least that's Bush's feeble answer. hehe But he says it as though it is a good thing. Well...for the economy it is...not for the poor saps looking for jobs.

I guess you didn't think the being a single mom thing through very well BEFORE you got pregnant. The answer to your dilemma would be easy if you didn't have a kid to drag around. Go to where the good jobs are. If you can't get a decent job in your local area, MOVE to an area that HAS good jobs!!!

Spell check IS a miraculous thing, BUT I don't think ragging on the woman is going to help her situation any. Perhaps you should look into some kind o fjob training or internship that will help you find a job upon completion.

I don't know what to tell you except I UNDERSTAND. I've been looking for a job in Delray Beach, FL and I havent been able to find anything. Its driving my husband and I crazy, not to mention guilt on my part. Its making me really depressed. I've been on so many interviews and they don't call me back! I am so sorry to hear you are a single mother, you are right, it sucks. Good luck! Write back f you feel like venting out! Take care.

Too many damn "single*" moms out there sucking up all the jobs, so businesses only have to pay half as much as they use too.
*single.. what a joke... you are either divorced, widowed or a $lut

some details are missing from your question---
what kind of skills do you have?
maybe you should look into getting more education--if you go that route, there are schools that have child development courses and part of that cirriculum is day care training so you would be able to take your child to school with you.
if your town does not have the opportunities for you to succeed and raise your child, maybe you should consider moving to a bigger town.

Your spelling, punctuation and attitude need checking. Check into classes at a community college, if you increase your education / skills, you'll increase your chances of getting a job.

Firstly, I'd be checking your resume for spelling errors because if it looks like your message, you won't get a job anywhere.
