First of all your 14 yrs old.I would be weary of giving you any meds,(side effects are more extreme in teenagers)But your Doctor knows what he is doing. Why your mom threw them away is a mystery. Why take you to the Doc then?I have taken many Psych Meds and usually they are for seizures so don't be alarmed.I don't have seizures either.Go see another Doc if you and your mom are concerned he doesn't know what hes doing. As for alot of meds, well they have to give you pairings of drugs, because if you take one med by itself it could lead to psychosis(Like the Yates lady)she wasn't on the right pairings and was taking one med at one point without the other to keep her stable. Not that I condone what she did.I happen to live near where she lived.

Lots of meds prescribed for psychiatric problems were initially intended or still intended to treat other things such as seizures as well. I have bipolar and take prozac and zyprexa. Check out bipolarhappens.com. It is a great site. Also, NAMI, I believe has chat groups where you can talk to other bipolar diagnosed people.

I have ADD and anxiety. I used to have serious problems sleeping but have done a few things that helped tremendously. First of all exercise. This helps aleviate the ADD and depression, but also it tires you out so youre brain won't go into high gear when you get into bed. Secondly, I never go to sleep without a fan running or a noise machine. This is key. The soothing sound of a fan quiets my overactive brain and allows me to pass out. Try these, I promise they'll work!

Often meds can be used for more then onething. Thats probably why your meds also said for seizures these meds are also used for anxiety depression and mood disorders. You need to go back to your doctor and have them explain the types of meds that he prescribed for you. And explain your concerns..

A lot of medications (especially those for bi-polar) are seizure drugs!
Try asking your doctor (with your mom present), how the drug(s) work and how they will help you.

you can't ask the doc what to give. he is the only one who knows what is good for the situation. try drinking chamomile tea. try holisticonline.com. walking helps the body also. go to adhd-1.com, and search the engine under adhd. there are great sites out there to look at.

what you are saying make no sense. if the doctor make a mistake in the prescription the pharmacist will catch it and fixed properly. and second why is your mom discarding your meds. advice: dont try to treat yourself, it will cause other health problems. seek help.

take the medications your DOCTOR prescribed for you. If you don't like what one doctor prescribed, try visiting another. and you are old enough to decide for yourself if you want to try the medicine. YOur mother was wrong to throw them away.
Try webmd.com
