the point is to make sure all the moisture is out of your hair. you should not straighten wet hair even slightly moist hair. the moisture is what heats up, and the direct heat on your hair is what causes the damage. if your hair is dry first and you run a flat iron over it this just helps achieve a sleeker longer lasting look. i have yet to see a professionally made wet to dry flat iron, so i would be leery of this. heat is not the problem for damaged hair, it is usually high heat that causes damage. always let your hair naturally dry some before using any type of heat, always use a low to med setting on any dryer or iron. and always always use a styling aid to help protect your hair during styling, and follow up with some type of shine to help keep moisture in your hair with out getting any frizz. use professional products, this will also help any damage, when hair starts to get a build up from shampoos and conditioners and style products, it takes longer to dry and therefore more heat is needed to dry hair which means more damage. for straight looks so sleek by matrix is a great line. good luck.

It depends what you mean by blow drying it....if you mean just drying it roughly then it's important to straighten it afterwards but if you blow dry it straight then you really shouldn't need to straighten afterwards. No matter what heat is applied to the hair it still causes damage but straightening is the worst.
I like to blow dry mine straight and then run the straighteners through it to just achieve a sleeker look.
Just experiment and see what you find easier and what looks better for you.
If you want to control the amount of damage done to your hair then try buying a hair product that helps with heat damage.

It's gets the hair more straight. if u don't want to use a lot of heat then straighten and blowdry ur hair once a week. If u want it to stay smoothe, u might want to wear a scarf.

the reason its better to blow dry your hair before straightening it is because the wetness from your hair combined with the heat from the straightener will damage your hair. so i recommend you blow dry it thoroughly then smooth a little gloss serum and a wax ingredient to keep fly aways down and prevent some of the burn, then straight iron away. there you go good luck with your hair. hope i helped

Remington moist 2 on the instant Straighteners and Trevor Sorbie Straightening Balm. those straighteners dry your hair from damp. do no longer hardship with the Revlon on the instant and Dry Straighteners, they're ineffective.

You don't have to blowdry first, but you will probably get better results. Its best to use a serum protector, specifically for blow drying to reduce damage to your hair, and give you hair a break from straightening at least twice a week

It's not necessary that you blowdry your hair before straightening it. Your hair just has to be dry before straightening it because any water that comes in contact with electricity causes electric shock. Straighteners have metals, so that's why blowdrying wouldn't cause electric shock.
Try using ThermaSilk shampoo & conditioner.

I don't think you need to blow dry your hair before straightening it, I think it just helps to make the look a little better.

I don't know but now they make a straightener that takes your hair from wet to straight in one motion and is guaranteed to cause less damage. I think it's called "Wet 2 Dry" and it's at Wal-Mart next to all the curlers and straighteners. My friends use it and love it.

It depends on what kind of hair u have, for black people......just straightening our hair damages our hair.....that is why I starighten my hair with the blow dryer and a comb.
But first we have to put cream on our hair before we do it cos otherwise it burns our hair and on the longrun it we can lose our hair!
Thats why we shouldnt do it too often!
