No, no, no! Running is Soooooo bad for your body! Every time you hit the pavement you SHOCK your body. When you get around 40 or 50 you will suffer badly from your younger days of running.
Swimming is Soooo good for you. Mind, body, soul. You work every muscle in your body at the same time and it doesn't hurt. You will have more happy energy when you are finished and the physical beauty of the results are unbelievable. If you are an older person, while you are swimming any stroke, you will notice that you are stretching your "under the chin" muscle and don't have that "2nd chin" older ladies get. You also don't have that "under arm" flab. In general, no matter what age, you will become slender in no time...have beautiful legs and a great butt.

It's actually easier on the joints. It's a different type of exercise, but you are using water instead of gravity for resistance. I'd rather swim a mile than run a mile and save my knees.

well swimming works a different set of muscles than running. it is a gentler form of exercise. running can lead to shin splints if running on hard pavement. but as to the benefits that depends on how much hard swimming you do. as in laps at slow pace or a fast pace. as in say for numbers sake. you do a length a minute or a length evry 45 seconds or a length oevry 30 seconds. the faster the lap the harder the workout.

Swimming a mile burns a lot more calories. Resistance. It's also easier on yout body. No stress. Just don't drown, that would be counterproductive!

not at all. both exercises have their benefits. Swimming is easier on your joints and it requires muscle you normally don't use. Plus if you are running and have to stop to go pee.....think about it. With swimming no problem
