According to the news, they are saying that he was not considered in police custody before the flight and that his coming back here was voluntary. Therefore, they would not handcuff him if he was not considered in custody. Also, if he wasn't considered in police custody, he may have to pay for his own plane ticket.

No, this is not that unusual at all, international flight, limits on the amount of time a person can be handcuffed or they violate thier civil rights, and at 35000 feet where is he going to go.
And yes business class, it keeps him away from the majority of the other passengers,
This is fairly standard, just not understand by most people.
And remember this is America, once he entered into our custody we had to start all of those rights of a person who is innocent untill guilty.
And really he had details that only the killer would know, that fact that he has confused other details of other children just means he is crazy.
And no, it is not a obviouis fake, have no idea why anyone would beleive that.

Before takeoff, Karr took a glass of champagne from a flight attendant and clinked glasses.
Dinner on board, served on a starched white tablecloth with silverware, was one many passengers would envy. Karr started with a pate, then had a green salad with walnut dressing. The main course was fried king prawn with steamed rice and broccoli. There was chocolate cake for dessert. Karr drank a beer, crushing the can with his hands when it was empty, then moved on to a glass of French chardonnay with his main course.
SOUNDS LIKE A HELL OF A PARTY !!!!!!!!!

I have read that this is a method to encourage a suspect to "open up" and talk more, but I agree with you that he should have been restrained and should not have been drinking champagne on the flight. If I were John Ramsey I would be appalled.

Absolutely. Although I read that this is some tactic.... I'm not sure exactly what they mean to achieve with this.
He's a nasty, weird, sick, FREAK and deserves to be traveling with the cargo!!!
Although honestly, I don't think he did it. He's just a sick freak who was obsessed with JBR case and wanted to become infamous to sell his book. This is a great way.... however strange...
