This can mean that there are problems going on some where. Using the bathroom on ones self is one of the clues that the child is upset about something or something is going on. If you know that home is OK, then I would start questioning everywhere else the child spends time.. Good Luck and I hope that all is well

Any changes in a child’s life cause anxiety. Some younger kids react to anxiety by reverting to previously conquered bad habits. Usually, these behaviors self-correct, so avoid making a big deal out of them. If after a reasonable amount of time the child continues to have problems, talk to them. At the same time, begin the potty-training regimen again. This time around, it should not take as long. If after several weeks the problems persist, you may need to consult your pediatrician. Sometimes physical problems may play a role in the problems. The most important thing for you is to remain calm and do not overreact.

Good luck!

As kids get older and start playing harder, they just don't think about going potty until the urge is real strong and they usually don't make it to the bathroom. Or there could be something bothering the child, like a new baby or family problems.

New sibling, needing more cuddles, new house, just about anything can cause a toddler to revert in this area. Be patient and it will pass.
