USCIS received my H1-B premium processing papers on 16th of Aug 2006. Due to some mistake on the part of the lawyers my file has reached the normal processing centre instead of the premium processing centre. I have put in my resignation at my current job and my last date is 25th Aug 2006.

What steps can I take to rectify this issue that the paper has reached at the wrong center?

And what happens if i dont get my receipt before my last day?

Try this number 800-375-5283. That is for USCIS. My wife and I are working on getting her green card. I've called that number a couple of time and actually got through. They were courteous and helpful. If they can't help with your particular situation they might be able to refer you to another number. Good luck.

i was close to having that problem. It just depends if you explain to your job you have file and just waiting for a receipt. First you'll get a receipt that they received it. Then they have some time to schedule your appt. After the appt if approved they will mail your card. But i remember its all about if your job will accept your reciept notice. If not then you might have a problem.

USCIS is pretty good with these things, have your atty. keep getting in contact with them and straighten it out. don't worry mistakes happen as long as your atty is honest and admits it is their mistake you will be ok. Been through this with one of my employees. They can pull the records nad you will more than likely get your receipt before your last day.

It's not an accident victim but your attorney should be all over this.
I understand your problem but your attorney can straighten out anything before it affects you. I am American & immigrated my wife to USA now I have immigrated to Canada. Good Luck.
