I just got two kittens and have no idea how to raise them. They are so sweet and lovable, but there is a problem. When they go poopie in the litter box, its all runny and it stinks to high heaven. Can someone give me basic info on kitties, and also tell me why we have this problem. I feed them Iams kitten food, and give them plenty of water. Can anyone help?

Dry kitten food. And no milk. Cats and kittens can't digest cows milk and if they are weaned then they no longer need milk. They might need to be dewormed, that can cause diarrhea. And were they on Iams before or was it changed. Until they get use to a new food they can have problems, but it can clear up in a couple of days. I suggest the deworming and a little time to see how it all works out. Get the dewormer from the vet. The stuff you can buy over the counter only does one kind of worms and you would have to get 4 different kinds to do it. The vet can give you an all in one and take care of it. Good luck.

sounds like the kittens have the runs or diairea switch to a dry cat food make sure it is recomended for kittens. second they should be checked by the vet to find out why they have stomach problems you can switch litter to one step or iftoo expensive pour baking soide over litter box and stir into litter also milk can cause stomach upset in some cats water is better

Congratulations! You need to take them to a veterinarian for a visit anyway and check-up/first shots. Take a scoop of their poop in a baggie so it can be checked for parasites. While at the vet's, ask him/her about the runny poop and any other questions you can possibly think of. But you absolutely have to do that first vet visit to get them their check-up and shots, etc. It will be fun!
Take them in a cat carrier...you can buy one at Wal Mart for about $11 and this will get them there and back safely. Don't skimp on the vet visit, go...they can continue to give you advice after you see them that first time, all you'll have to do is call them and ask your questions. They'll know the most and have the best answers for you. Look in the yellow pages, choose a vet close to you, and make that appointment first thing tomorrow morning.
