It has been more than 20 years since my last confession, and I don't care at all, why would you confess to someone that statistically is quite probably guilty of quite a lot more than you, and most of it punishable by jail?

I am so sorry that you still have to go to confession. You know you can pray directly to God; you don't need a preist to do it for you. Jesus became your high priest when He died on the cross. You don't have to tell your priest anything to get absolution. Just as God for his forgiveness. But, if you are going to go to confession, you should at least be honest. Your priest might not know the difference, but God already knows what's in your heart.

I was born and raised Catholic, and practiced my religion for a good many years till I got a divorce from my first husband, and then when the church looked down on divorce, but would accept your money to come back into the church, I said to myself , these are not all Gods rules, he would never agree to alot of these man made rules, and I believe confession is another one, that you should not have to tell another human being your sins, and only God himself can forgive you, and he will forgive you no matter where you are if you are truly sorry for what you have done. So many religions today have man made rules, and they try to scare you into doing everything the way they say it should be done, or tell you your going to hell if you don't! I believe in a loving God, that wants you to try to live your life the best way you can, and to try and help others. You can pray anywhere, or anytime, and God will always listen. My husband is a trucker, and prays out on the road himself, and I am sure God listens. Also, when my parents were too old and sick to go to church, I'm sure that God knew when they prayed, and didn't ask for them to go to a church. Churches are fine, but they all say: I AM THE TRUE CHURCH!, and we know that cant possibly be, instead, we do know in our hearts, there is only ONE TRUE GOD!!

You dont' need to tell your sins to a priest. you can go straight to Jesus. That is why He died on the cross so He becomes the meadeator betoween you and the Father, and not some mortal man. That priest can not absolve you of your sins, Only Jesus can. You must accept Jesus as your savior and be born again so Jesus can grant you the blessing of forgivness.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
The catholic chruch does not teach this and you will miss your opportunity to get into heaven because of that. Accept Jesus as your savior today, and secure yourself a place in heaven and be ready for Jesus when He returns. Jesus is returning in our lifetime. Are you ready for Him. He's coming if your ready or not. I pray you accept Jesus as your savior today. You are not promised tomorrow or even five minuted from now.

Just tell the priest it has been a long time, or simply tell him it's been so long you can't remember. No problem. It happens all the time.

True Christians confess to The GOD only.
If it's over one year then you didn't make your Easter Duties so should go to a Bishop or Archbishop to get permission to continue in the Cult.

I round it to weeks, but...
Well, I'd check with your mother and father, as they provide the spiritual foundation of your life. As a family unit. It may be weird - but an important conversation.
I didn't read the other answer so there's probably a good answer there.
Keep asking these great questions!!
Peace...

First thing first, when Jesus went onto the cross and died and the temple vail was torn, we no longer go to a person, instead we can go to God the father in Jesus' name, for there is NO other name given amoung mankind where we must be saved" The Bible says "IF" You confess your sins [to God] He is faithful to forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness 1 john 1:9, study for God yourself in the Bible [kings James verson] "IF" you seek me with all YOUR heart THEN you WILL find me" God bless, free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com talk to me wgr88@yahoo.com
