get a picture of the kids or and the wife and put it on a doggy like chain necklace. you know the ones that are either gold or silver and when you look at it , it is like laminated into the necklace, the family. he can wear that anywhere as well as some kind of inscription on it or on a t shirt his favorite color. or some sort of jewelry to put the kids on or grandkids if any. the best thhing is the picture on a necklace. sort of like the dog tags service men have instead of the name of their branch you put a picture
