Seek medical help. You can get medications that will help you get through this. There is no shame in being depressed and there is no shame in getting help. You may just have an imbalance in some chemicals that the medication would help.

Well, if it's of any consolation, I have experienced a similiar thing. I had no desire to live life, no motivation, even thought about doing awful things to people, sitting in dark parks alone late at night....always thinking about suicide, didn't cook, clean, or go out. Those are just some of the symptoms I experienced. I have mixed feelings about medical help. Here's my opinion. I think you should definitely tell someone what you are going through, whether it be your parents, boyfriend, doctor, or even all of them. I do believe that if you are given the right antidepressant, it CAN help you cope with things. But bear in mind, you should not stay on antidepressants forever. Talk to a general practicioner about meds. As far as psychiatrists are concerned, I say stay away from them. They are expensive and not helpful. They treat you like you're stupid just because you have mental issues which I feel is not right. Not only that but sometimes they try and control your life. I hate them! Now maybe there are some really good psychiatrists out there that I don't know about but they are far and few. Psychiatrists are worthless and have nothing to offer as far as i'm concerned. You'd be better off getting counseling through a church or a regular counselor while staying on meds until you can overcome your depression. Although I didn't use counseling (I chose good friends of mine to help me out), the meds helped me out and I was able to overcome my depression to the point where I no longer needed meds. So to sum things up, keep fighting AND talk about getting meds with a regular doctor (not those damn lame excuse of a doctor they call psychiatrist). Also, get counseling from friends, family, and/or a professional. Don't be discouraged. Everyone goes through a dark time in life and it will pass. Things WILL get better and you'll look back at this time and just think that it was a low point in life that will help you to define the finer things in life.

If you are still struggling, you definitely need to see a doctor. You have a chemical imbalance that may need medication. I was on medication for 6 years and it did help. Losing interest in the things you cherish most is a HUGE sign of depression. Please go see a doctor. And if you ever need to talk, don't hesitate to contact me.

I am currently off of my meds to see how it goes. MY situation has changed so much since my depression started (I left an extremely unhappy marriage) that I wanted to see how much of my depression was situational. I am very aware that I will probably end up back on medication, but wanted to try for a while without.

Definitely seek help. Also, friends are natural counsellors, therefore, try and talk to somebody. Talk about it as much as possible. You will feel better. I suffer from depression and I know how you feel. You have to be strong for yourself - you are your best friend, you are your own rock, therefore try and look after yourself. Try and imagine this: you step outside of your body, and now you look at your own self; Now you see yourself as somebody who is weak, feeling lost, confused, probably hurt. So the stronger "you" standing next to "weak" - what feeling would you have when you see yourself? Wouldn't you want to help yourself, give her/him a hug, tell him that everything will be better? If you had a best friend in the world right now what would you expect him to do to make you feel better? Then do it for yourself!

if you think you can keep fighting if some random stranger over the internet tells you so you must have the will to keep fighting and need reassurence it's worth it all try to not get angry at your friends and family if they tick you off and try to be nice to them and try to fit in to a certain extent you can take up new hobies if you want it would be good if you had a close friend or reltative you could talk to if not you may need a psychiatrist/shrink or some doctor

Depression is one of the many obstacles that life challenges us with. Medication shortcuts freewill. Keep fighting, but talk to some people, maybe a psychologist. It helps to fight in the right DIRECTION.
Say NO to pills.

Make an appointment and see a doctor about this. Depression has a biological cause, and it is treatable in the majority of cases. Look in the phone book and find yourself a Psychiatrist and go to him/her. You sound as though you are suffering from clinical depression. It is impossible to pull yourself up out of it, and this is not your fault. You deserve to feel better. So please, please make an appointment. There are plenty of kind, loving doctors out there.
