Have you really. You can't show responsibility one day. It has to be continuous. Keep your grades up. Take the initiative. Do extra stuff around the house. Oh, and an occasional "I love you" doesn't hurt. Do you know how to take care of the bird anyway?

Buy a parakeet book and show them that you care about the care of the parakeet. When you're ready and when you think you buttered them up enough for you to convince them to get you one, show them how much you know and maybe you can make a schedule up for when you'll feed him and change the water. That should work. If it doesn't, sorry but I'm out of ideas. I have a parakeet and a cockateil and when I got one it was a lot of work and by making the schedule it was SO much easier to take care of them. Hope this information helps you! :-D

Tell him that this is the most low maintenance pet besides a fish. But unlike a fish, it has the ability to learn some things, provide happiness to the family, and love you back. It only needs its cage cleaned when it's dirty and fresh water and food. Parakeets and their cages do not smell at all and their droppings don't either. They are small and easy to clean up. If he doesn't want a bird flying around the house, you can always get its wings clipped, but I don't suggest it. Does that help?

Parakeets are super easy to take care of.
When I wanted one I just told them that they would never have to clean his cage, feed it or anything and that I would do everything for it (and I told them that for its cage, the food, the dishes, and a toy and the parakeet istself it only will cost about $50.00 . after them thinking it over they agreed! and now I have a Parakeet.

A parakeet is the most easiest thing to care for. I have 3 of them right now. They sing to me all day long and all you do is feed them and give them water and treats. Go buy it your self what will he do make you bring it back? Good luck to you...I think all kids need a pet......

Parakeets are very simple to take care of...I have two and all I do is feed them and give them water whenever they run out or are close to running out. I like watching them play with each other, kissing each other, and talking to each other...it's very cute.

They are very easy to take care of...so its not like a HUGE job.
