Hanukkah or Chanukkah is the Festival of Lights, a celebration of Jewish liberation from Greek-Syrian oppression.

You can get "Happy Hanukkah" greeting cards in any Jewish bookshop, and most supermarkets.

It is what Jews celebrate instead of Christmas, although there is no connection.

Here is a short version of the story:
In 167BC Israel led by Judah Maccabee ("Judah the Hammer") and his family the Macabees revolted against their Greek-Syrian rulers and oppressors the Seleucids, a dynasty founded by one of Alexander the Greats generals. The Macabees founded the Hasmonean dynasty and reestablished a vibrant Jewish state in 165BC which survived until the Romans came.

Hanukkah is the Jewish "Festival of Light". It commemorates yet another Jewish struggle against oppressors. It generally falls in the winter, around Christmas, so it has taken on the status of 'crass, gift giving holiday'.

Hanukkah cards can be purchased at just about any card store (Hallmark, etc.)

Hanukkah (spelled several ways)is the celebration of the oil lasting for 8 days when the Temple was regained control of. There was only enough for 1 day.

The holiday is not a major Jewish holiday, but, one that is happy for the family.

It is in December---depending on the Jewish calendar......it varies. Cards should be available at any card shop.

It is the Jewish Festival of Lights, which starts this year on Dec 16.

Your greeting card shops should have a section for Religious festivals. Look for cards that likely have an 8 armed candlestick holdwer (Menorah).
