I love her dearly, I try hitting her, I try hissing at her, and locking her in my bathroom. I don't know what to do.

It takes a long time to train a kitten and some persistance on your part. She cannot understand a "time-out", she cannot understand why you would hit her, she does not understand that she is hurting you.

Physical punishment should NEVER be used with a kitten or cat. It will only make them fearful and then they will not become the warm, cuddly, loving creature you want in cat.

Hold the kitten up to your face and hiss at her, say a firm "No!" and put her away from you. That's a one, two, three step procedure and you must be consistent. Just use the 'no', she does not need a lecture on appropriate behavior.

If you are playing with her with your hands you are asking for a bite. Kittens who play in litters learn to regulate the strength of their bites from one another. You are her playmate. Use a cat dancer or feather toy to play with her. You have to teach her that human hands are not toys, they are for caressing and loving.

Definitely stop hitting your kitten, this will not solve your problem it will only make ur kitten scared of you or nasty. I have a kitten who is four months old and had the same problem with him. I thought that there was something wrong with him b/c he would bite me for no reason even when I was sleeping. My vet told me to get a water bottle and squirt him. This worked and he would stop biting for the moment. He rarely bites anymore and I think it was just a stage. The squirt bottle helped and I would get one. Your kitten just wants to play and that is what she is doing....playing. She is not trying to hurt u. When she bites do not pull ur hand away quickly bc she will think u r playing. Instead pull away slowly and get a toy and play with her. She will learn.

My kitten used to do that too, and still does, but has become very gentle about it. She is playing. When she attacked me I don't respond at all, I just held my hand there and she realized it wasn't a toy. She has to respect that your hand is authorityand afffection, and not a play thing. Hitting cats serves no beneficial purpose. It can make them nastier through fear. Try to play with the kitten with teaser toys and the like and never use your hand as a "bait" for a toy or play rough using your hands.

You have gotten a mixture of good and very bad advice here. I hope you are smart enough to ignore the rough stuff and try the more humane solutions.

First- stop hitting her. Stop hissing at her. Stop punishing her. You will make the problem worse and create other problems.

Keep your fingers away from her mouth. Give her something else to bite. Consult your vet. Try catfancy.com and see if they have anything to offer. Just please don't hit her anymore.

Dont hit the kitten, he is just playing or teething. It is natural for the kitten. I learned to tap my kitten's nose and give a resounding NO! Don't hit the cat or hurt it!!! The tap on the nose gets his immediate attention. I also blew in my cat's face when he would attack my hair. Buy him plenty of toys, he is a kitten, he is just playing around.

Well, hitting your cat will not do any good, that will just make things worse, they are not like dogs when it comes to discipline, give her time, sometimes they bite, my one cat bites me still, but that is just the way some of them are, if you show her love and be patient she will come around. Best of luck to you and your kitty.

If a cat is bullying you, then you MUST show her who's the boss otherwise it will be hard her discipline her in the future. A angry cat is a ferocious ball of teeth and claws so don't try restraining her with your naked hands, you will have scars. One, if you acts up, show her that's it's inappropriate and that you are not afraid of her teeth and claws. Wear gloves or wrap a shart over your hand and arms then hold her down. Let her know her bite is ineffective, even painful to her to bite you, use a ruler and let her bit that instead. And don't use a squirt gun but a whole cup or bowl of water and pour it on her, that will scare the hell out of her. Keep it up, if you let your cat bully you, it will not only have no respect for you, you won't get respect from others as well. Good luck.

Rub your hands with a citrus fruit ( to get the scent), like an orange. Your cat wont like the scent so he won't bite. Try it

Start by giving her something nice before petting her... don't pick her up yet! make it gradual. When she starts coming to you, that is a good sign. Give her a treat a pick her up. Let her be able to leap off your lap when she's done. Eventually she won't bite!
