I believe that there is a spirit(s) of some kind in my house and to be honest it scares the $hit out of me! How can I have the spirit(s) removed. Do I need a priest? Are there only certain priests (ie Catholic) which will perform a ritual that would remove spirits?

Things that have brought me to the conclusion are:
My g/f believes she has seen a ghost in the bedroom
The dog stares at empty space as if there is something there
The lights occasionally flicker (It isnt dodgy electrics!)
It feels like they there is something else in the house of a supernatural existance.

Any help or advice would be great! Thanks.

Well, no matter what anyone says. a spirit has never physically killed someone. Maybe it is a good spirit. But if you feel it is something bad then I suggest you get the house blessed. a priest could do this, heck we had a Mormon uncle do it once. But if you believe the lord will take it away, then get on you knees and pray....pray for warrior angels to come and fight it away and then pray for guardian angels to guard and keep it away. You have to believe to so that and sometimes it may not last if you forget to pray for those angels. Also do not talk about or to it. do not give it any attention, pretend it is not there....no matter what you see or hear. The bad ones feed off your negative energy such as fear. If you take away it's power and give it no attention, then it will eventually leave. good luck.

Yes, both sides of the spirit world are real. You can't have only God being a reality without the other side also being real. Sorry, it just doesn't work that way. However, don't be discouraged; God is far more powerful than anything the enemy has to offer. The enemy is just a created being who exercised his free will to rebel against God. God and His Son, Jesus, are far more powerful than the devil.

Yes, call in a priest or other minister who knows how to perform exorcisms. Find a phone book and phone around to the churches in the area if you don't have one you already attend -- or if you attend a church in a denomination that would be freaked out by this sort of thing. If the local priest (Catholic, Anglican, Episcopal, etc) is unwilling or unable to do that (or just unfamiliar with the whole thing) try an Apostolic church. They understand the reality of the spirit world and the power of the Holy Spirit and should be able to help you. Don't give up; keep phoning until you find someone who will.

Everyone wonders from time to time if they might have ghosts in their house, but in the light of day reason and logic win ut over fear and ignorance.

1. People hallucinate, imagine things, dream things and wake up thinking it's real, and sometimes lie or exaggerate to make a minor optical illusion seem interesting.

2. Dogs do weird things. Their sense of smell and hearing is much greater than humans, while their sight is less effective. so you can see how he'd might be smelling or listening for something and seem to be staring at nothing. My son when he was a baby used to stare at the wall above the headboard of the bed like freakin Poltergeist, but nothing ever happened.

3. Lights flickering could be caused by dodgy electrics, as well as your local power supplier.

4. A feeling isn't anything more than that without proof. You've just psyched yourself up to "feel" something, when it's your own expectations titillating you. Imagining ghosts and spirits is easy when it's on your mind all the time.

Lastly, for me the real problem is that your religion teaches you that there are supernatural things in the world, when in fact there aren't. If it was a natural phenomena then people would've captured it by now, but alas it is but a product of the human mind.

I grew up with Christianity and spent my childhood not only afraid of god, hell, the devil and sin, but spent every night petrified of seeing ghosts and monsters.

Now that I'm an adult and have noticed there is no supernatural, no need for superstitions, or for religion, I live free and happy, and even my 3 year old isn't scared of the dark at all, because I've never suggested he should be.

Firstly if the spirit isn't causing any real problems like poltergeist activity, odds are it's just in visitation, although some spirits stay on to protect those they left behind. Spirits that come in visitation find comfort and joy in past surroundings but mean no real harm or interference. Some just want to try and share their joy and memories of your home. The fact that your dog is not upset by this spirit is a real indicator that the spirit isn't a threat. It could even be a loved one or spirit guide that is there to support and help you. If you really want to remove the spirit there are few things you can do before you resort to calling a priest.

You can use a smudge bundle (various herbs) usually available at a spiritual or metaphysical store or on the web. Walk around each room and around the whole house ask God, guardian spirits or whatever feels right to remove any energies or spirits that are not loving from the space and to seal it from further intrusions.

You can speak to the spirit in quiet times to see if there is something you can do to facilitate their transition over to the other side. Helping them to see the open passage home or to understand that the loved ones have now passed on to there next lesson can help diminish the visits.

Good luck.

first of all, you don't need a priest...just yet anyway...some things you should do first are as follows: 1) take pictures all around your house, have them developed and look for any clues like semi-transparent orbs, random bars of color, or smoke-like anomalies and consider using a digital tape recorder to see if you can record anything from the spirit...this will let you know if you in fact have a spirit. 2) try using sea-salt on your window sills and doorways to prevent/deter spirit action/presence 3) consider getting a protection candle for your house or crytals are helpful too. 4) visit TAPS website for more info, alternative tips, and contact info if your situation is dire...

Good Luck!

You can tell it to leave or you can bless the house. There are many ways be createive. But are you sure you want to get rid of it? it doesn't sound like it is hurting you. If i was you i would just let it "live" peacefully with you unless it doesn't something bad. But then again i proboly am the only one here who would want a ghost for a pet.

Yes a priest sometimes may help, altho it sounds like your not even sure. Nothing to worry about if it is a spirit, they can hurt you, what they sometimes would do is mostly when the lights are out, they'll come into your room, if they are seriously want to communicate you would know, they may show themselves, move things around, usually touch you nicely. they are seeking a way out, best think is to help them, tell them to go to the light. ask them what they want, who are they, and tell them to go where the light is, to go to Heaven. perhaps the aura around you is strong, they see it glow.

They usually are sort of locked into an object, like a dresser, table, light ficture.. anything. If you remove this from your house it will usually take the spirit.
Also, If you've got the guts to stand straight up to it and tell it to leave you alone, they will listen.
