I always thought the mainstream Christianity was a sorta intelligent bunch who were raised in a religion and it was nice and they got married in a church and had a baptism for their child and it was nice and yeah they had a bible that had nice life lessons.
As you know my son got a disease in February called histiocytosis which prompted me to delve back into the matter of God which I left in about 2001 shortly after this one day that year, some day in September, and I rejected what I saw cause it was a bunch of people who wanted to kill muslims and that just didn't make a whole heck of a lot of sense to me.
So, I read some books about how God was bad. I started debunking these books. THis is logical of course to see something and ask is this resonable. I found most of the atheists websites lacking intellectual umph. I got some book about the changes in the new testement, translations, etc. His point was stuff aint the same some stuff was added THAT CHANGES THE MEANING, and that we have to decide for ourselves about such topics as homosexuality.
I bought a bible in June and read it. Not all of it. But enough to know where stuff is when I need to get there.
I don't believe in God. I tried I really did I said come into my life God. Nothing. If there is a God he's ignoring me for his purposes I guess.
I came across this question tonight and so wanted to read something that said yes this verse it says punish child molestors. Some mentioned a thing about Jesus saying throw the child sin causer thing into a water, well ok thats kinda interesting. Don't know if thats the same as the child molestor is an abomination, as it says in Leviticus 18:22 that homosexuality is an abomination.
Then someone mention 1 Corinthians 6:9 and I about vomited.
That verse says homosexuals don't get into heaven.
So, to sum, the feelings of Christians, (SOME NOT ALL I GUESS) is that a homosexual is the same thing as a child molestor.
Talking to many of the Christians who are even liberal Christians off line I've heard from more than one of them to "be warned that label homosexual means more than just adult consentual sex" paraphrasing, implying my child might not be safe around a homosexual.
I am of the belief that man and woman are not born straight or gay but born with equipment for both and along the way a preference developes.
I don't consider the homosexual evil or worthy of scorn in such a way.
The Christian view presented here that a homosexual is the same as a child molestor and both are unworthy the gates of heaven, makes me want to vomit.
Thank God i'm not in this cult that would make people think these ridiculous thoughts about their fellow human being.
I love all, I love gays and I love Christians. I don't really love child molestors more or less just want them in jail away from my child.
I am more disgusted with Christianity now than I have ever been in the past. Utter convinced that this interpretation of the Bible is one that appeals to the lowest common denominator and makes people cult members.
Sick.

The Bible condemns even the slightest abuse to a toddler. i do no longer know which verse reads the terrific Luke or Mark so i will form the two one in each and every of them for you. Mark 9:40 two KJV Jesus stated "And whosoever shall offend a style of toddlers that have self assurance in Me, it rather is greater clever for him that a millstone have been hanged approximately his neck, and he have been forged into the sea." Luke 17:2 KJV Jesus stated "It have been greater clever for him that a millstone have been hanged approximately his neck, and he forged into the sea, than that he could offend a style of toddlers." God needless to say condemns even the tiniest abuse of a teenager so how plenty worse the condemnation or the super offense of sexual attack that hurts no longer in basic terms the physique yet warps the innovations of the youngster. would the Lord rebuke those people who injury little teenagers and God needless to say states that he will.

Why don't you try reading the bible before making an ignorant statement about it?
Jesus said for anyone who causes a child to sin, that it would be better for that person to have a millstone put around their neck and them thrown to the bottom of the sea.
The part in the bible that I just mentioned applies to you if you don't repent since it is likely that you might mislead someone by publicly misrepresenting the word of God.

The anti-homosexuality in the bible is in Leviticus (along with a bunch of other 'sins' such as cutting your sideburns, planting a field with 2 different seeds, etc.) and in Paul's letters to the Romans. Reason in Leviticus: jewish tribes wanted to divinely mandate procreative sex (because they needed to increase their numbers to defend against their enemies) and to define their group's identity by arbitrarily determining valid behavior. Reason it's in Paul's letters to the Romans: Paul (Saul of Tarsus) was a product of his times, raised with the very strong anti-homosexuality sentiment of his jewish religion. Paul wrote a bunch of letters to the early christian groups in different areas (rome, corinth, etc.) and his particular conditioning shines through (conditioning from the Leviticus teachings). Pedophilia is never listed probably because it wasn't an issue; again, homosexuality became an issue because of the need to increase the tribe's numbers and to define the tribe's identity.

“A Sexual Crisis” Among the Clergy
“A SEXUAL crisis is tearing at the central nervous system of the Catholic Church,” stated Jason Berry, a Louisiana author who received a Catholic Press Association award for his coverage of pedophilia in the National Catholic Reporter. Regarding perverted sexual acts against children by the clergy, Berry went on to say in The Washington Post:
“Since 1985, scores of pedophilia cases involving priests or brothers have been recorded throughout America and Canada. As a result, U.S. dioceses have borne steep losses in law suits, and insurance coverage for such actions has evaporated. These changes have arrived amid a number of reports that as many as 10 to 20 percent of U.S. priests may be homosexually active.”
The Providence Sunday Journal of Rhode Island states: “Bishops in 29 states . . . have faced claims of damages by victims of sex abuse by Catholic clergy, and the Church has paid at least $60 million so far in judgments and settlements.” In Louisiana a priest admitted to molesting 35 boys and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, although, the Journal says, it was clear that he “had assaulted at least 75 children over 10 years.” And a Rhode Island priest pleaded guilty to 26 counts of sex abuse involving young boys.
An investigation of Covenant House, a shelter for runaway youths in New York City, revealed that the priest in charge had engaged in sexual misconduct with a number of young men and boys. And the Roman Catholic archbishop of Atlanta resigned after it was acknowledged that he had carried on a two-year sexual relationship with an unmarried mother.
A conference of U.S. Catholic bishops received a report on the “catastrophe” of priest pedophile litigation. The 100-page report, states the Journal, “detailed a strategy for limiting the Church’s liability from civil lawsuits to $1 billion [$1,000 million] based on the 30 suits then pending.” The lawsuits are being brought by the Catholic parents of the children involved. And psychiatrists who treat the young victims of these crimes report long-term, often permanent, damage.
God’s Word speaks of such “disgraceful sexual appetites” by which males are “inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene,” and adds that the “righteous decree of God” is that “those practicing such things are deserving of death.”—Romans 1:26, 27, 32; see also 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10.
Undoubtedly, much of the problem arises because of the unscriptural practice of celibacy, forbidding priests to marry. Yet, the Bible, God’s Word, states clearly that those in the Christian ministry may marry. As the Catholic Douay Version of the Bible expresses it: “It behoveth therefore a bishop to be . . . the husband of one wife.” (1 Timothy 3:2) And it also states that “forbidding to marry” is an evidence that “some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to spirits of error, and doctrines of devils.”—1 Timothy 4:1-3.

Great point, I never heard that argument before.
The Quran on the other hand does reference the issue:
Quran 76:19 "And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls." http://www.muhammad.net/quran/Translation/076.htm
Such a erotic description of boys is can be easily contrued as a green light to pedophiles in Islam. Unfortunately, Allah doesnt clarify this in the Quran.
