I know just what you need. A *WONDERFUL* product that I have used before for pet skin irritations is called M.E.D. Topical Solution and is made by a company called Best Shot. It is gentle but fast acting and will really work. You spray it on the affected area and it immediately stops any itching, promotes healing, and is also an antiseptic. Contains Aloe Vera gel, eucalyptus oil, and chamomile extract. It is used as a treatment for skin allergies, hotspots, exzema, seborrhea, etc. for problem skin. I show dogs and have tried everything; I SWEAR by this stuff. I buy this stuff from the vendor themselves at larger dog shows, but have also ordered it from them online...they have expedited shipping available in case you want it here NOW. http://www.bestshotpet.com/
Price is roughly $10 per 12 oz.spray bottle and a bargain for its quality. Can't recommend it or any of their products enough and sounds like it could help you.
As a stop-gap effort until the product arrives, would recommend just plain old Bag Balm, applying a thin layer two or three times daily...it won't help with the itching but is a safe topical antiseptic that has been around forever and won't hurt anything.

#1 - See the vet.
#2 - If it is going to take a while until the vet can be seen, use some MILD cleanser ( baby Shampoo, etc...)and then pat dry. If the dog is on antibiotics, it could be a fungal infection which the vet will need to diagnose. In the mean time, cortosone cream can help the irritation & itch. Try to keep the dog from irritating the area further. And keep it clean and open to air. Snip away long hair around the area if needed.

Clean it with peroxide, and then apply neosporin to it until you can get her to the vet. An Elizabethan collar around her neck will keep her from scratching the affected area. Good luck to you.

When my dog had something similar, I washed the area and put zinc oxide on it. Then, being a small dog, I put a baby shirt on him until it healed so he couldn't keep scratching it. Since you have a big dog, a bandanna might help. It healed--problem solved.

Just keep it dry and clean. If she is not on medication for this skin issue, I would call a vet.

I've used Neosporin on my dog. It works great. Put an e-collar on her so she doesn't scratch anymore and so it has time to heal.
