They need a reason to make them look bad to give themselves a cover for their racism. If they are criminals, then the people against them have a legitimate argument.

Total number: Our best estimate, based on the March 2002 Current Population Survey and other data sources, is that there are 9.3 million undocumented immigrants in the country.1 They represent 26 percent of the total foreign-born population [figure 1].
Countries of origin: Mexicans make up over half of undocumented immigrants—57 percent of the total, or about 5.3 million. Another 2.2 million (23 percent) are from other Latin American countries. About 10 percent are from Asia, 5 percent from Europe and Canada, and 5 percent from the rest of the world.
Distribution by state: Almost two-thirds of the undocumented population lives in just six states: California (26 percent), Texas (12 percent), Florida (10 percent) New York (8 percent), Illinois (4 percent), and New Jersey (4 percent) [table 1]. But, the most rapid growth in the undocumented population since the mid-1990s has been outside these states.
States where the undocumented represent high shares of the immigrant population: The undocumented make up more than 40 percent of the foreign-born population in 10 states—most of which saw their foreign-born populations grow rapidly during the 1990s. High-growth regions are the Rocky Mountains, the Midwest, and the Southeast. The undocumented populations of Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina have grown so rapidly that they may already have surpassed estimated bases

I don't care how "friendly" they are - and they are NOT "honest" or they would not sneak over the border into our country illegally. Lots of criminals are considered "friendly" by their friends and neighbors who are always SHOCKED when they find out that this person is a criminal. And, you are WRONG - most of them do NOT pay income taxes because MOST of them are working under the table. Even the ones who do pay taxes are doing it fraudulently by using stolen or made-up SSNs and because they get paid so little, they don't even hardly pay any taxes anyways - definitely not enough to cover the social services that they use in the form of education, medical, and food stamps. Undocumented immigrants are illegal immigrants are CRIMINALS!!

Undocumented immigrants is a polite way of saying "illegal aliens." Yes, some are honest, friendly, and work hard, but they are also taking American's jobs by working for less pay, and they use government programs that we pay for through taxes.

Its because they ARE criminals, that's why. They're here illegally without documentation and are thus a criminal. If they were here legally and had their green card, the only way we could consider them a criminal would be if they were to break the law. In addition, a great many of the illegals are criminals in their native country - a lot of them are either members of the Mexican Mafia or are dealing or running drugs. That makes them a criminal. Get the picture?

Because they are breaking the law, regardless of their intent. It is illegal for an undocumented person to enter the USA. Even if their intentions are good (and granted, most are), they are still criminals, and need to be treated as such until they are able to follow the laws of this country and legally acheive citizenship.
As an immigrant from South Africa myself, the only way my family could come over is by plane. There is no way that we could have entered this country undocumented. Why are mexicans so special?
Obviously, your ignorance of this issue is clouded. Look at it from all sides.

Comparing them with criminals? They ARE criminals ... they have broken the law to get here in the first place ... and there's no such thing as an undocumented immigrant .... illegal alien is the correct term ....

It isn't a comparison, it is a fact.
Check out the Federal Immigration and Nationality Act. It is also a crime to harbor or conceal them. See Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii). http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode08/usc_sec_08_00001324----000-.html
And they are about 5 % of our population but make up about 30% of our prison population.
The thing about being here illegally is that there may be all sorts of generally 'good' folks, but we don't know they are illegal. The ones we know are illegal are the ones in gangs, in our prisons, and the ones who are applying for governmental services.

Because they broke the law to get here which makes them criminals.
Your logic means that someone who commits a crime shouldn't be prosecuted if they work. Or is this just the case with Mexicans?
