It doesn' annoy me as such. It worries me that these latter years' education standard has dropped so drastically that this is the result. Punction is also very important. Placing a comma, for example, in an incorrect place can actually alter the meaning of the sentence. If the meaning is altered, then the receiver of a letter may completely misunderstand, or not even realise what is meant by the letter. I once worked with a girl of 19, who wanted to be a secretary. Letters, etc., were on tape. She was given one letter back & could not understand what she had done wrong. Not knowing the word "Vicarage", she used the spell check and inserted the word "Vicar." Instead of writing about selling the Vicarage, she had written about selling the Vicar!

Try taking all the full stops, capital letters & commas out of, say a magazine article, then see if you can make sense of it.

Politicians are always saying how they are creating the best schools, the best tuition, etc., but how come it dropped to such a bad standard (quite a few years ago) that it got so bad. They never ever explain this point. Perhaps by letting educational standards slide so much, they think they can control the British public.

Yes. I'm sure it shouldn't, but it does. Txtspk especially; you could argue that people only use bad spelling and punctuation because they've not been properly educated, but there really is no excuse for using txtspk when you've got an unlimited number of characters to play with rather than just 100 (or however many you're allowed in a text message). Although it is possible to get too wound up about these things. I once corrected someone who said that their cat was being 'viscous' (possibly 'vicious'?), and felt really bad about it.
It also annoys me when people cut and paste really long answers, and put the same really long answer to each related question. This normally happens in Religion and Mythology in my experience.

Bad spelling doesn't annoy me. If the spelling is so bad that I don't understand what the person was trying to say I just ignore it.

I did get very annoyed once when I wanted to answer a question for someone who needed help and I could give it to them but found out I had used up my daily quota. Fortunately that only happened once.

Their lack of skill in spelling does not bother me. I realize that I am not perfect. I also realize that whatever skill I have in spelling was simply a gift given to me by living in a country that provided me with an education in our public schools. I am thankful for what I have and the opportunities that were afforded me. I do not look down on others whom I know nothing about. Spelling and grammar are not nearly as important to me as the content of the message. There are people on here who have great mastery of the language and use it only to spread their judgment and hate. That bothers me.

I'd love to say that it doesn't bother me but it does!
I know plenty of people have good reasons for not being able to spell or have trouble with grammar, ie. dyslexia etc, but the fact of it is that most people are too flipping lazy to bother.
I'm aware of how arrogant this sounds, but I can't help it! I have an overwhelming urge to slap people who say they are going to 'borrow me a book' when they mean that they are going to LEND me a book! I could go on with many more examples but I will become depressed.
We all make typos every now and then, but people could at least try!
I know, I'm sad, I need therapy to cure anal retentiveness.

It doesnt really matter as u dont want to delete and overwrite again and again if u type something wrong............and the main thing is the it should be understandable........spelling really doesnt matters nor the grammer or punctuation. Kmon its same like we are talking and not using correct grammer.........Leave that for professional people............ Just enjoy

Yeah! I do agree that its irritating when u cant answer beyond ur daily allowance!

This Yahoo Answers is just to try our nerves and see how long we can stand the incorrect use of the English language. We either accept or stop reading ...
Have a nice day.

LOL, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and YES!

I have never seen such a truly depressing literacy rate since the internet got big.

And we all make typos--especially me, I can't type--I peck. But you go back and correct your misspellings.
