Each hole has a score assigned to them. If you look at the scorecard and see 4 for a hole it means that you should have the ball in the hole in 4 shots...from tee to hole. If you do that it is a par. One under (if you finish the hole in 3 shots) is a birdie. Two under is an eagle. Three under is an albatross or double-eagle. One over (5 shots) is a bogey, two over is a double-bogey and so on. On a par three ( ahole that takes 3 shots to complete in regulation) if you get it in the hole in one shot it is an ace or hole-in-one.

The tee box is where you start off. The fairway is the mowed area from the tee to green.
