You mean casually, when you two say goodbye to eachother? In that case, it means just to enjoy life. If you're flipping out and running around screaming and they tell you take it easy, then they mean, take it easy, man! You're freaking out!!

I kind of depends on the situation.
You could be angry or upset and someone tells you to take it easy, or calm down.
Or it could just be said in passing. Like you run into a friend on the street and as you are going your separate ways one friend says, "Take it easy". That could mean, chill and don't stress.

It means that no matter how much you worry or anticipate something, it isn't going to bring it any faster or cause it to move any slower. If you believe that you've done what was necessary for something to happen...take it easy and let it come.

Generally, this statement is made when one feels a growing sense of panic or anxiety in themselves and wish to deflect it onto an surrounding company.
Occasionally, though, it's meant as a statement of calming oneself.

Depends on HOW they say it. They can imply that you need to "BACK OFF" or simply "hey relax, pull up a chair and take a load off"
