That thread spurred my thoughts.
The posters tend to mass accept that occult, is the same as cult.
How does one go about educating the masses that their definitions of what they are confused about are creating negativity, pain, and suffering in life?

I'm not talking about the religion as a whole!
I'm talking about the subtleties!
Take for example the link I provided. The general population of Yahoo!Answers is confused, because they can't see what is written on the page in front of them.
It ask what the difference between cult and occult is.
Any English language religion will look at the word cult, and BAM! A hundred cliches jump into their head, confusing the hell out of their mouths and into people's ears.
I say the word bully, and assertive wouldn't pop into many peoples minds unless worded just perfectly.
I can't even describe what it is I am asking, because of the confusion it creates as subject matter.
What can be done to change the words religions associate with good and evil?

You say that the word occult confuses "religions". I can see where you're going with people getting confused between 'cult' and 'occult' but I think it's more stupid people than religious people who can't tell the difference. Of course the two are far from mutually exclusive.

I've learned that people that speak the truth will inevitably hurt SOMEONES feelings or make someone feel differently about some part of their lives. Religion, in itself, isn't inheritedly evil or intend to hurt and cause people pain. It teaches a certain perspective that a person can choose to believe or deny. Religion is confusing, but belief isn't. A person can believe in something without it making sense to anyone else but that person. A person seeking a relationship with God doesn't start by signing up with a religious group or cult, they tell God that they want to know him and are willing to do whatever it takes to acquire that relationship. That's really all God needs to know. God has been leading them all along, which is why they hit the point in their lives that they ask the question. You can't look at God or the way people practice their faith in him through a scope of right or wrong, Man is too finite to completely understand that concept, we have to want a relationship with God first and let him lead us to where that takes us and learn from the lessons he teaches along the way.

When you truly want to provide a peace of mind for yourself here on earth and a better place for your soul in the after life, then go to God in prayer and pray for understanding and wisdom before reading his word, and then you will begin to understand and not be confused.

Educating the masses is a goal doomed to failure. Communism tried it. The idea is based on the misguided belief that the "educator" knows more than the "students."

A CULT & OCCULT, IS OFTEN CONCIDERED AS THE SAME MEANING BECAUSE A CULT MEANS THAT A GROUP OF PEOPLE ARE WORSHIPING, OR SEMI-WORSHIPING A CERTAIN PERSON THAT THEY ADMIRE, AND THEY CONCIDER THIS PERSON AS BEING A SUPERNATURAL HERO, FOR SOME ODD REASON! THEY ALSO FEEL & BELIEVE THAT THIS PERSON IS TOTALLY BLESSED, THAT THIS PERSON HAS SPECIAL POWERS IN SOME WAYS THAT WILL MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR THIS PERSON TO HEAL, AND BEABLE TO ACHEIVE CERTAIN TASK THAT IS NOT HUMANLY POSSIBLE FOR MAN TO ACCOMPLISH! AND OCCULT MEANS, SUPERNATURAL POWERS! THAT MEANS THAT GOD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN BLESS AND HEAL US!!!!!! THEY DON'T SOUND LIKE THEY HAVE THE SAME MEANING TO ME! Most religion are confused only because they allow it happen, what's to confuse about, are they preaching the word of God or the name of their religion. Pain and suffering in life is nothing compare to what God did for us to send his one and only son to die on the cross for us.

modern religions aren't really confusing, they are all basically the same. they have the same holidays the same concepts etc.

NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO CONVINCE A PERSON OR A GROUP OF THEM WHO ARE STUCK IN THE CEMENT BLOCK THAT THEY ARE RIGHT ABOUT SOMETHING.... OBVIOUSLY THEY WANT THE BLOCK PRESERVED ... ITS THEIR TREASURE...WITH NOTHING IN IT
