I have really thick and curly hair, and it's not the cute curly either It's really poofy and I want it permanently straightened before school. Is it a good idea and how much does it cost. If it's not a good Idea what are some other things I could do to help with the poofyness.

it wont be permanent, its grows and you get wavy roots. i think it would cost like the price of a perm, as that what it is permed straight. I have thick curly hair, but you wouldnt think it, with good hair products to keep the hair healthy and a layered cut, and my ghd straightners, which only takes seconds to run over my hair, as they very hot. also a heat protector spray, my hair is dead straight, and you dont need to do it every day, after you wash it, then maybe a quick straighten the next day too. if you perm it its just going to dry out. P.S you can get ghd products off internet (its stands for good hair day)

I have the SAME exact type of hair and I also live in California. i wanted to perm my hair but it's expensive, it dries out your hair and you have to deal with those roots. I bought a really good hair straightener for about $150. It was worth it because it doesn't dry my hair and it works quickly.

I work in a small town in South Carolina, but used to work in a ver high end salon in Charleston.... I charge no less than 75. That is my beginning price. Being that you're in Cali, I don't imagine it being much cheaper. Good luck!
