We have dish network. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I was skeptical about getting it but figured if I didn't like them I'd go back to cable. I always heard about bad reception and no television when it rains. We have many huge thunderstorms and I have only lost reception twice. (more with cable) one day we couldn't get a signal, I called dish and someone came out the next day and in 10 minutes he had found the problem and replaced it. I was amazed and still am at how efficient and effective the service is. My friend has direct I got them to switch to dish and he loves it!

DirecTv is one of the bigest jokes, most overated provider out there. I got it, and I kno your pain. I also had DishNetwork back about 4 years ago, and I gotta say I was more happy with them then I have ever tried to been with DirecTV. DirecTv looses there signal everytime it rains, the recievers and worth a ****, the remots lag to the recievers, you get no freedom with them. What I mean, Dishnetwork gives you, (used to give you, might wanna check there package) a handful of movie channels in with the package. DirecTv you have to pay for every extra channel you want you kno. Dish never went out in the rain not unless it was a heavy storm which is understandable for any satelitte, Dish might not have as many advertisements as Direct, but there reasonalble, and there cheaper. So yea Dish isnt a bad investment at all and no there not a mistake. Couple years ago they actually had a nice package. You got the whole satelitte setup, a home suround sound, and a HDTV, for like $1000. Which when you think about it, it really isnt bad. Not sure if there still doin that thou. But hope that helps you out alot.

I have always found Direct TV to be pretty good. I have had trouble with my reception the last few months when it has rained. I do not know why it has gotten more sensitive lately. I am not sure about dish network or whether it is better. I would call Direct TV back and ask for a supervisor and tell them what has happened and if you do not get any satisfaction you are switching to cable. That usually freaks them out a bit.

You said that you are having a problem with one of your receivers, that would make me assume you have more than one. WIth DirectTV (and I believe with Dish Network) you own the equipment. So if you do have more tahn one and only one box is messing up it is your problem not DirectTV's. If however you are having actual signal problems send Chase Carey a letter couldn't find his email right away. He is the CEo and president. Of course he will never see it however we did this with HP, Trend Micro and Bell South and got great results. Good Luck
