Family typically means related by either blood, marriage or other legal union like adoption; but in many cases it also includes close friends who spend a lot of time together.

It could be people who are related by blood, or people who live together, or people who take care of each other. Some people consider close friends to be part of their family. there is immediate family/nuclear family (parents and their children) and then extended family which includes the parents' parents, their brothers and sisters and those peoples' families. Adopted people are also included wherever they may be. Many people include nannies as part of the family, and if they have live in help, they may be considered part of the family as well.
Hope this helped.

Family does not mean only related by blood as step-parents and step-siblings are also family, even though they are not related by blood. And many people will have aunts/uncles who are just best friends of their parents - not blood relatives. Also adopted children are family as much as children born to a family.
Family is what you make it.

If your family is from CUBA, then ONLY blood is family. When your daughter or son marries someone, THAT PERSON is NOT BLOOD. They are NEVER part of "the family." They are always the "outsider."
Worse, if the person your daughter or son marries is NOT CUBAN. Then this is "death-con-5". The absolutely worse thing you could do to your family.

Family is not just blood family is the people who love you and take care of you. People that you can turn to when you need help and they never judge you and love you unconditionally. A family is what you make it to be.

No.
A family does not consist of only blood relatives.
Families are also formed by kindred hearts adopting each other informally by an unspoken mutual understanding, and by formal adoption through the courts.
The common denominator in both the formal and informal adoption is how people consider each other as family in their hearts.
That's what really matters most. Those you consider as family in your heart, and those who consider you as family in their heart.
