The only difference between an occultist and a baptist or anyone else practicing any other faith is the simple fact that baptists are seen as acceptable to our society, while occultists are not.

Are occultists dangerious? I would worry more about an evangelical who believes that god has told him to blow up an abortion clinic or a muslim who believes that god has told him to blow up a plane before I would worry about most of the stuff that occult people do.

all "cults" can be dangerous. take for instance those embarrassments in my own christian faith. the preachers who foretold the doom upon the earth and got their followers to sell every possession they owned and to separate themselves from the world.

when the world did not end, they were out all of their money and possessions and had to move on to other states because they were ridiculed and shunned by those they spoke against before the end of the world, who did not welcome them back into the community.

any religion can serve an evil purpose. do not accept one over the other just because it has a 'cool or christian' name.

i profess christianity, but i despise religous sects within my own religion who break away, because of differences in philosophy. although i think communication is good, and should happen, you must trust the leaders of your chosen religion.

The word Occult simply means hidden. Many times the "danger" is imaginary, or simply propaganda from those who insist their religion is the "Truth". Funniest thing is the fact that those who claim their religion is the "TRUTH" are more dangerous than those who they speak against.

All Religions are occults.

The word occult comes from the Latin occultus (clandestine, hidden, secret), referring to the 'knowledge of the secret' or 'knowledge of the hidden' and often popularly meaning 'knowledge of the supernatural', as opposed to 'knowledge of the visible' or 'knowledge of the measurable', usually referred to as science. The modern term's meaning is often imprecisely translated and used as a term for 'secret knowledge' or 'hidden knowledge', in the sense of meaning 'knowledge meant only for certain people' or 'knowledge that must be kept hidden'. For most practicing occultists, however, it is simply the study of a deeper spiritual "reality" that cannot be understood using pure reason or physical sciences.

So lets see...For example, in Judaism, special spiritual studies such as Kabbalah were allowed for certain individuals (such as rabbis and their chosen students). These studies do not conform to mainstream Jewish ritual; charms and protections were often crafted as wards against evil, but it is questionable if talismans are still crafted in any branch of Judaism. Also, some forms of Islam allow spirits to be commanded in the name of Allah to do righteous works and assist steadfast Muslims. Furthermore, there are mystical branches of Christianity that practice divination, blessings, or appealing to angels for certain intervention, which they view as perfectly righteous, often supportable by gospel (for instance, claiming that the old commandment against divination was superseded by Christ's birth, and noting that the Magi used astrology to locate Bethlehem). Rosicrucianism, one of the most celebrated of Christianity's mystical offshoots, has lent aspects of its philosophy to most Christian-based occultism since the 17th century.

And my favourite....

The word "occult" is somewhat generic, in that most everything that isn't claimed by any of the major religions is considered to be occult (and many things that are). Ha. Who would have thought.

So your question is, Is anything that isn't what we think it should be dangerous...why yes, to you it is.

I don't think that they are any more or less dangerous than anyone else.... unless they practice some form of blood sacrifice or something, then I guess they are.

Why do people ask questions about darkness and then say, don't mention satan in your answer?

Impossible not to. The realm of the occult belongs to satan. There are two sources of power in the universe: one is God, one is satan. If you are not worshipping the one true God by way of His only begotten son...if you are practicing these "spells" or dabbling in tarot cards, whatever, you are in satan's camp.

only to themselves. Fundamentalist Christians are far more dangerous, since they seem to be running most of the American government.

as far as i know cults can be dangerous...but mostly they are nice as long as you do what you are suposed to....but later if you slide from there teachings or are seen as straying that is when things get bad. There are stories out there about former cult members who finally got out of a cult and talk about their experiences. If i was you i would stay away.
