I have worked in Electronics for many years. The technology has reached a point most of these are pretty good cameras. What I would look at is the Features it have including Mega-Pixel settings. I have a really good Fuji I got when Best Buy close them out. $50 for $150 camera if I remember correct been about 3 years now. It only have 3 pixel settings; .03, 2 and 3 megpix, but, it was really good for the price! It have other options such as Timer to get in the picture, Close up and various Flash settings. I would like my next Digital to have at least a 5 mega-pix setting for making better 8x10's.
So, with this said, I look at a good price with the features I want. Canon and Kodak have the name, but, Samsung may have a better price. Also, you may want to consider size!!! Smaller are more expensive, but, more handy. Mine not fit in a shirt pocket, but, a fanny bag works.

Between the 3, definately Canon. Kodak's have probably the best user interface, and some great features and styling- and render color probably better than any of them, but some of their cameras don't keep up with comparable Canon models in image quality/sharpness.
The Samsungs are still a distant third at this point.
However- right up their rivaling Canon are some products from Sony, Panasonic and Fuji. The latter two tend to offer more features for a lower price.
Canons are generally solid performers, without a lot of bells and whistles and are a priced high. Kinda' like the toyota of cameras.

Out of the three brands you have mentioned, the best as far as image quality, is Canon...which is the biggest seller of cameras in the world. They have been making cameras (and doing a fine job of it for many years...long before digital was around).
Kodak is ok for a beginner I suppose...and I'm not too sure about trusting Samsung (which is only very new to the camera game).
Stick with a good brand like Canon...even though it might cost you a little more $ than other brands.

I trust Canon first of those brands. I've got 2 myself, and i love them both. I trust kodak for films and Samsung for my cell phone, but neither for a good camera. Canon's been making cameras (digital or film) the longest. They would know best.

Kodak is a great brand, but to be sure, the best thing to do is go to an electronics store that sells them and try the ones on display. Get used to the size, the features such as zoom, saving and deleting pictures, battery life, etc. Once you find one you like, make that the one that you buy.

I bought a Kodak and its awesome. I spent about 350.00. The thing you want to look at is the pixels. The higher the pixel, the better, if you ever want to blow up a picture. The higher that is, the better the picture will be. Ive had really good luck with mine and I bought it at Walmart.

Canon. They are rated the highest in most features, but still stay fairly affordable. The PowerShots are great cameras!
