I admit to having some less-than positive opinions of Islam that I formed before I did much research or reading. As I learn more about the Quran and the ACTUAL laws and words of God presented therein, I find Islam less offensive to my Christian American sensibilities. The negative opinions I formed were based on a lack of exposure to the truth about Islam, and an over-exposure to the wackos who bomb and kill innocent people in the "name of Allah."
But my issues with Islam are the same as my issues with Christian fundamentalist/extremists or any extremist groups. I don't have negative opinions about Christianity because I know and hear publicly from moderate and reasonable Christians all the time. Unfortunately, in America there seems to be little if any communication or public opinion expressed by moderate and reasonable Muslims to contrast against the negative image that is portrayed in the news.

You can judge islam the same way you judge any other religion. By the behavior of its followers.
It says a lot that the vast majority of the worlds terrorists are islamic extremists. It may be politically incorrect to say, but its true.
And it makes no more sense to ask muslims whether or not they are terrorists any more than it makes sense to ask criminals if they are thieves. You won't get a straight answer if it is true.
If you want the truth, don't read a book about islam written by muslims. It's biased.
All you can do is observe and judge based on actions. And actions speak vastly louder than words.

When Islam delegated the Lord Jesus Christ to a mere man like their false prophet, I didn't need to know any more.
Follow Christ who died for the worlds sins vs. following a man who killed, stole other mens wives and married a young child -- not much else needs to be known.
Yes there are some good aspects of Islam but you also must read between the lines.

I haven't read about it yet, but based on positive experiences I've had with Muslim friends, I try not to pass judgment on it.
One of the things about Islam that is hard for me to understand is the position of women in society. I had a very nice Muslim man try to explain it to me once, but I still don't get it.
I think women should be able to wear whatever they want, for example.
Putting too much emphasis on a woman's style of dress or virginity objectifies them as much as using them as sex symbols does. There is so much more to each of us than how we dress or what we do in our bedrooms! I think a man would be much better off marrying a nice woman with sexual experience than marrying a mean virgin.
Maybe I will buy a copy of the Koran someday and it will make more sense.
Peace and love.

this is why people think Islam is so screwed up........
In the middle east, a woman awaits a new execution date for killing the man she says tried to rape her. There, if a woman is raped, she can be charged with adultery. If a woman kills her attacker, she can be charged with murder. Both are punishable by death. How screwed up a Country and undoubtly a Male who came up with this wacko law....makes me sick
That is what is wrong with middle east 3rd world countries WHEN YOU exclude half the worlds population(women) You are half as capable of power educating ,oh soo soo sad
The men in the middle East do not deserve those women!

I have studied Islam for 4 years, in depth. The funny part about your question is that everyone I have met who "apologized" for Islam, but wastn Muslim, knew nothing about Islam. I bet youve seen the same thing, kafirs who defended Islam but said things that made you realize they knew nothing about it.
On the other hand, I swear to you, its my experience, that people who have studied Islam in depth, and are not Muslim, always agree that Islam is by far the most violent and intolerant religion in the world.

I read passages from the Koran and I know from that they condone the killing of non-believers and "infidels". I know that Cat Stevens became a Muslim and shortly thereafter agreed that Salman Rushdie should be killed because of the book he wrote - "The Satanic Verses". Obviously, from that perspective, it is a hate-based and intolerant religion and I will never have any respect for Mr. Stevens.

I don't have anything more against Islam than any other cult/religion. It's full of ****, just like the torah and the bible.
when people grow up to be violent, it's usually cuz they had violent parents/teachings when they were young
when religous people kill eachother, its cuz the book they think is so special has taught them to do so.
Religion is the cause of terrorism. (not just fundamentalists, but the moderates too.)

Yes I read about it and I fully believe it is a scam for money and power just like any others. Just the people of the middle east are not as smart and have weak minds and are easly brain washed. Don't all religions start brain washing kids brains at birth?
