In his sermon on the mount, Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the Children of God. So now I am asking whether you think you are a peacemaker and why you feel that way, or if not, whom among the world leaders fills that role and why. I invite all people of all political persuasions, whether conservative, liberal, Republican or Democrat, Christian, Muslim, even Agnostic or Atheist to give me your thoughts on this. The only thing I ask is that you show respect for each other and that there is no bashing of another's viewspoint.

Dear People, I am so enjoying reading your answers. and now I am going to ask you another question? Doesn't it make you feel good to be looking into your hearts and truly thinking about what it means to be a peacemaker, whether on a grand scale or simply in your every day life and not to be hurling insults at one another. Admit it, even if it is just to answer this question, doesn't it feel good to let go of the hate?

Anyone can be a peacemaker. For instance, you work in an office. Person A is mad at person C. You are person B. You listen to Person A, you listen to Person C, you encourage each of them to forgive and forget and let go of the resentment. Perhaps they are wise and do that.
In your family there are siblings A, B, and C. Sibling C doesn't like Sibling A. You're Sibling B. You are kind to each and pray that one day things will be different. God is using you as a peacemaker.
You are in a group where people are gossiping. Not only do you not join in, you gently say something kind about the poor soul being gossiped about and then move the conversation totally to something else.
Like that.

When Jesus made that statement he did not say or mean that the peacemakers would be amongst the world leadersor political persuasions.since he said that he and his followers would be no part of the world, that just means that they would not take part in the worldly or political affairs in stead they would be following his example as closely as possible for imperfect humans! So yes I try to be a peacemaker.

Peacemakers can come from all segments of society. Belief has nothing to do with it. One can be religious or non-religious.
I'm not a peacemaker, and that's a pretty sad admission. There are many peace activists in my area, and I respect them, but their sweetness-and-light approach to life, as well as their excruciating political correctness, just drives me crazy. It seems as if some of these people have never spent five minutes in the real world. But they're working for peace and social justice, and I definitely respect them for that.
The peacemakers of the world attempt to stamp out oppression and injustice. They feed the poor and help the sick. They are truly great people, whether they're ever publicly recognized for their efforts or not.

Sometimes one can be misled by the term "peacemaker". It doesn`t mean you settle things peacefully 100% of the time ... It means also that you can do good deeds for other people by putting your wants and desires behind theirs. A good deed passed on without expectations of return will be far more effective than saying " you owe me ". You do what is required of you as a Christian even when you will receive no earthly reward other than having the person you helped see another side of humanity and they remember the wonderful feeling they felt when the help was provided for them , and they want to pass it on with a good deed of their own ..This is also a Peacemaker !!

A peacemaker is the servant who is at peace with himself, at ease, not agitated, ill tempered, in turmoil...and therefore not abrasive. A peacemaker works hard to settle quarrels, not start them is accepting, tolerant, finds no pleasure in being a troublemaker. Proverbs 26:21 say " As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife." Yes I am a peacemaker.

I believe a "peacemaker" is someone who follows the greatest command - love each other. I am a Christian. I believe in and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Word of the Lord (the Bible). Jesus said many times, "Love each other as I have loved you." He was the ultimate role model of appropriate behavior. My life is a reflection of my belief in Jesus. I do my best to be a peacemaker - to be kind, compassionate, loving, forgiving, and understanding of all people.

i believe the last political peacemakers were Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy.
The peacemakers of today are the few that pass on the Hope of Peace.....War is too big these days, and the number of Peacemakers is too few.
I consider myself a Peacemaker because I oppose war, Love our soldiers, love my enemies, teach my children to be fair and un-selfish and never fight.
thank you for the great question!

A peacemaker is a person or organization that attempts to reconcile parties involved in a dispute. I don't think myself as a peacemaker as much, because it only turns out to be worse, esp. in my own life.

Peacemaking involves compromise and listening to the other side. Making your own conclusions and not just following leaders blindly. I have tried to do this. But we all can unknowingly create hostility with errant actions or comments.
