I'm a Christian that believes in God, but not organized religion. Why? because there is only so much man can do and we all tend to screw it up. My heart is in God's hands, not the fumbling hands of men.

If I had not had various experiences, I probably would be atheist because of all the lies and hypocrisy associated with religions, but I have had various unexplained experiences and I would quite frankly have to say that I believe in a supernatural higher power that I call God. Who or what it is is beyond me, but I can not deny it's existence based on the fact that organized religion falls short on honoring God and treating all of humanity as equals alone. I have experienced way too many weird things for God to not exist. Just man seems to like to sway people into their way of thinking and way of oppressing others because they think differently and uses God as an excuse to do so. This is the foundation of religion and I don't believe that God appreciates it one bit. I can not see my God say that slavery, rape, that the Israeli people were his chosen above all, etc is ok, yet says all are created equal in his own image (sorry to pick on Christians, just need an example, no offense). I just do not see the justification in that at all. I believe in God, but I wholeheartedly believe that religion is a man made falsity.

I believe that the organized religion I am a part of works very well for me in my life. But I don't think it works for everyone. Religion can be used to make lives better or worse depending on what you do with it. I get frustrated with organized religion and how it divides people so much, and for some that frustration I think can make them stop believing in their religion. It's perfectly understandable, I think.

My best friend believes in God, but her dad goes to church every sunday and forces her to go too "so she can be a good person." Then he goes home and beats his kids, but still thinks he's a good person for going to church and confessing after each and every time he beats her. Faced with that hypocrisy she has completely lost faith in organized religion and I can't say I wouldn't have done the same in her shoes.

Yes. I have a strong belief in a 'God'. I do not believe in organized religion because religion is a creation of mankind, and is almost always hierarchical, and contains human flaws. Also, organized religion serves to separate people into groups who argue about thier 'rightness'. This has been the foundation of a great many unholy wars. Obviously, I relate to my personal god from the perspective of my own culture, which makes me a little christian, however I believe that all religious backgrounds have their own cultural perspective that allows people from that culture to relate to their personal god. Ultimately this makes all religions both 'right' and 'wrong' equally.

Does that make sense to anyone else?
Have a nice day.

I believe in some sort of creative force, but not God as traditionally portrayed. I have tried organized religion, but I feel like a hypocrit when I go to church because even though I think the overall message is usually great, I find it hard to believe in things like Heaven, Hell and God in the way it is presented at most churches.

I'm not opposed to organized religion, I just don't think mankind has enough information to make the claims and assumptions that most religions do. Also, much of organized religion seems to have an agenda to control, manipulate, and use people.

Before I became an atheist I used to wonder if there was a god and thought that it was possible that there was. But the contradictions between different religions and even within religions were so apparent to me that I never believed that any of them could be true.

Yes i believe in God and NOT organized religion.Because what the church let us believe is all rubbish. All they can do is steel and start wars. Go back in history it is true. God helped me out many ways when I ask. I also call him at times spirit, because no mather what you call it,there is something out there in the Energy Circle and it will always come back or when you believe in something often and hard it will come true. So try it I made the experience often.

Absolutely....and I can pinpoint it, but I had to write it in a book in order to attempt to explain my experiences to others....There is no way to sum it up in a three word logline.

How does this sound?......I met God

Pretty ridiculous, huh?

I believe in a god. Not God as in the Christian god. I don't agree with organized religion because your fate and your beliefs can't be made by a guy with a funny hat....it has to be made by you.
