Well in a nut shell, it works like wearing contact lens it is called mono vision , oh BTW you can't achieve mono-vision by wearing glasses! the vertex distance is to far away! so what the Md does is set one eye for near vision and one eye for distance, it works the brain makes it happen! now some areas that the doctor will determine if your a good candidate for mono-vision is such things as Dry eyes and high astigmatism, and other factors like a high Rx and Amblyopia or a lazy eye. and medical conditions. the Evaluation is free! I will let the Doctor Explain the medical procedure, but it only takes a few minutes! and if you have good distance vision like 20/20 they only need to do one eye! what they do is make you a little nearsighted in the one eye like a minus -2.00 in the reading eye . nearsighted means what it says! like in the old days before glasses the hunters had the best vision and the nearsighted folks weaved baskets! oh and the folks who were really farsighted they were Sol! EDIT if you can wear contact lens for mono vision more than likely your a good candidate. the docs are Really great. oh don't try to pinch Penny's with it! see the best Doctors! And i would do Lasik in a new york minute for Reading but i can't, my optic nerve was damaged in my right eye years ago!

Because when reading, only one eye has to be able to read clearly. My mom uses one contact for reading becasue when she reads the other eye adjusts and focuses, while the contact allows her to clearly read. Its pretty amazing.
