usually when i dream it is in regards to something or someone i have seen or thought of in the last few days, but the other night my dream felt more like a memory that i had hidden from myself as a child. my dream was about a relative that i havent thought of for a long time and he was confessing to me the things that went on when i was a child and he mentioned another little girl named Leonie{i dont know anybody with that name} i rang my mother the following morning and asked if i ever played with a little girl called leonie when i was about 5 and she said that i did and she was the neice of the relative in my dream. i cant kick the feeling that something bad happened to me as a child and id hidden the memory deep in my subconcious. untill now. what are your thoughts? am i thinking to much into it?

If this dream comes very often then perhaps its a problem and you need professional Help. But if it was just once or ocassionally, it could be allrite. Sometimes if we are very imaginative , we can have dreams about things which never really happened but the characters would be people whom we know or we knew sometime in our life!
And most importantly dont keep thinking about it,

Wow,

Psychology (especially Freud and Young) teach us that dreams sometimes do in some ways reveal suppressed memories.

On the other hand, many times dreams are visual manifestations serving as symbols.

If you wish, you can email me the answers to the below questions and we can discuss this in more detail - onlyget1shot@yahoo.com

Can I ask the man in the dream confessed that may have effected you?

How long ago was the dream? It is possible you could have a follow-up dream that brings it more into perspective.

If you are worried, I'd suggest speaking with a psychologist on the matter for input.

It sounds like alot more than a coincidence that the girl in your dream and the girl you played with as a child have the same name. If I was you, I'd try to find this girl and ask her if any of the stuff your relative confessed in your dream really happened to her.

what an amazing story. i'm not sure what to say. i think it is possible that the dream is about reality that you lived through but don't remember, but it doesn't have to be. maybe talk to that relative from the dream and ask about it?
if you think of the things he said that happened to you as a kid (in the dream), does it sound like something you experienced? and somehow effects your life today? if not maybe you should let go of it. don't stress too much unless you see how this is part of your life now.

depends, people can confuse memorys with dreams. Its quite comman. You should ask those who might remember and keep track of your dreams. Keep a notepad and pencil next to your bed each night. If the dream keeps occuring its trying to tell you something. Write down details such as whos in it, do you know them or not, what are your feelings in the dream, what time frame is it, smells, symbolic images and etc...

I don't think you are thinking to much into it. Dreams do have significance. My mom dreamt she was pregnant but she knew it wasn't her so it had to be one of her children. My other two sisters have their tubes tied so that only leaves me. Next, a friend of mine dreamt I was pregnant, and then last night I dreamt I was pregnant. I haven't taken a pregnancy test yet. So chances are that I;m pregnant or will soon become pregnant. I said all that to say that you should look into this dream and start asking more questions.

You are probably thinking too much into it.
There are terrible things that happen to children sometimes, but unless you actually remember it, I wouldn't go looking for some kind of "hidden memory".
I'm no expert, but I think they have shown that "hidden memories" are not very reliable.

i think you need to start asking questions and get to the bottom of this thats a baggage you dont wanna carry around your whole life wondering if he did something bad to you holding it in will only lead to further problems such as stress, depression, inhability to have a stable relationship with a man/or woman it will alway be there haunting you in the back of your mind and there are gonna be times when something brings out that thought or dream it could be as simple as a tv show but you really need to get to the bottom of it

The human brain can often supress memories as a defence mechanism. It sounds like you may be right, there may be more to this dream. But unless you are prepared to know if anything bad did happen, you shouldn't press it further.
