You're probably too young to remember when "TourBike" was the hot new thing. . .

But, with those, and at that time, a trailer was perfectly normal.

From that period, we got the mountain bike gears still in use today. Honestly, has anybody got use for the maximum capacity of an 11-34 rear drive and a 22-32-44 front drive when they don't have a trailer on?

Concerns include chain break, sturdy tour-specific rear tire, and insuring that the rear wheel is well maintained with even spoke tension so that it doesn't break.

While the majority of the proletarian shoppers at Wal-Mart honesly believe the bicycle to be a child's toy, most people in almost all other countries in the world see it as a vehicle. . .

and it is perfectly normal for it to pull a trailer. ;)

In many places in China and Japan, and everywhere that Dutch and German are spoken, and in Amsterdam (so many bicycles that you can't drive/fit a car), it is not unusual to see a bicycle with several hundred pounds of produce, a refridgerator, or a sofa. . .merrily going down the road.

Are you talking about a bicycle or a motorcycle? If you're talking about a motorcycle you need a hitch that will allow the tounge angle to change (like a ball or a ring).

If you're talking about a bicycle, homeless people everywhere pull trailers with their bicycles - with incredible loads.

I seem trailers/storage areas on the front of a bike but not the back - sounds like a need idea - maybe you should trademark it or something - good luck!@

My el cheapo $89 nashbar.com trailer has hauled, in a single load:
3 fully loaded coolers
3 full size sleeping bags
1 huge-*** tent+all stakes/fly etc
All this at full speed down a bumpy, rocky mountain bike trail for several miles. No problem.

I had a friend who did that. He was a pool man. One day his car broke down. So he put his tools in the cart behind his bike and peddled from job to job that way until his car was fixed. It is a good thing and it really doesn't look stupid.

It's not strange at all. I have been thinking about doing the same thing for a couple months. I would be careful about too much tongue weight though.
