I just filled out FAFSA and I have the submission comfirmation. I was looking at the EFC and it says 7174. I make around 27,000 a year and they give me a number like that. What gives? Will I get anything in financial aid or am I not going to school? There is no way I can go if that will be the number. Punish the working person.

Go to finaid.org, it has a lot of articles.

Also, go to the Head of the Financial Aid Department at your University and speak with them.

I am very sorry for saying this, but you might not get a pell grant at all.

They always calculate the student to contribute a significant portion of thier own income to their education. You may have to look into a loan or a major budget cut. Another option is merit scholarships that are based on achievement and not finances, look into that and essay contests, what about relatives?

It depends on what your schools considers estimated cost of attendance and tuition etc. You may not qualify for a grant but you rpobably will for loans.
