I'm either preaching to the choir or shouting at deaf ears here, but here goes. I'm no Christian, but I still know how to read. And I'm fairly sure that Jesus said things such as "love your enemy", "turn the other cheek", "judge not lest ye be judged" and all sort of other good stuff along those lines.
So why do so many Christians (and no, not all of you, I admit) seem to forget about all of that and condemn gays, Jews and just about anyone who is different than them.
And if you want to throw me evidence that Jesus was a hate-monger and a homophobe, well, it's those kinds of contradictions that fuel MY belief - the belief that all organized religion is pretty much a sham to begin with.

Astrophysicists? What in the hell are you babbling about? I'm talking about people who claim to live by the teachings of someone who claimed to be God, and then totally ignoring those teaching and being hatemongers and criminals. What the hell does science have to do with this, you idiot?

And yes, I'm fully aware that many Christians actually DO follow the teachings they say they've devoted themselves, too. I thought I had made that clear. But if I hear one more supposed "Christian" telling me we should "blow up those A-Rab Ragheads" when they should be turning the other cheek, I'm going to have an anurysm.

Well... here's the story...
A man is approaching a traffic light as it begins to turn red. He reflects on his actions and decides it is more prudent and safer if he stops for the light rather that gunning his engine and trying to beat the light. No sooner has he pulled to a stop than the woman in the car behind him starts laying on the horn, gesticulating wildly and making threatening gestures.
Suddenly, there is a knock on the woman's window. A police officer opens her door, hauls her out, handcuffs her and puts her into his patrol car. At the police station she is finger printed, her mug shot taken and she is thrown into a holding cell with several rough looking detainees.
About an hour and a half later the officer comes back and escorts her back to the booking desk. He takes off the handcuffs and apologizes. "I'm sorry mam. There's been a mistake. When I pulled up behind you I observed the "What would Jesus do?" bumper sticker on your car, I also saw the Christian fish and the "Know Jesus, Know Peace" bumper sticker and a crucifix hanging from the rear view mirror. As I watched you laying on the horn, making threats and flipping off the poor guy in front of you, naturally, I thought you'd stolen the car.
***
Unfortunately, too many Christians follow the religion about Jesus rather that the religion of Jesus.

If the Christian books now were the same as the original ones, then there wouldn't be any Un-Christian Christians.
But sorrowfully the Holy Bible has been changed in core hundreds of years ago.
The original Holy Bible states that a man will be sent by GOD in the future to guide the people whose name is Mohammed.
If you need a reference, Holy Quran is the best reference because Holy Quran is still the original one since Islam started.
But I think that you are faked by your Media that says bad things about Holy Quran without even reading it.
Visit the Middle East and study Holy Quran, you'll find different things from your current Bible, and this is normal, but Holy Quran is really logical. Be objective in reading it and study it well with Muslims.
Wake up people, you don't know Islam, what your media says is not what Islam is. So, be objective and read it.
GOD bless you all.

The Bible says you would know a Christian by his love, and that each one would do good deeds. If a person is hateful, he's either not a Christian, or hasn't been one for a very long time. This is why people contradict themselves when they say Hitler was a Christian. If Hitler was a Christian, he wouldn't have done the things he did. And he wouldn't have called religion a sham.
However, the Jewish Tanakh (of which Jesus approved) did teach that homosexual activity is a sin, as did the Apostle Paul. You can love someone and not approve of what they're doing at the same time.

In some ways I agree with you, but do remember that organized religion, whether true or false, did do some good in the world. You cannot prove me wrong in saying that there ARE good people who are religious. Religion has saved lives. People as passionate about religion and as long as you don't let God govern your political choices in the same passionate feeling, you can make sense. I love the idea of religion and I, myself, am neither Christian nor Athiest, I am agnostic and believe firmly in God.. and Jesus. But that both had good senses of humour and believed in freedom for all.
Religion is an opinionated idea now, and you will find no comfort here on what is true and what isn't. In the end everyone has their own beliefs and that's that. Can't ask for more or less.

I'm a christian and I don't behave that way all the time. We are suppose to be "Christ Like". I don't know anyone who can do that and that's why Jesus had to die.I have social anxiety and Churches freak me out the worst because I'm afraid of being judged so harshly.I wish it wasn't true. The churches have not been set up the way Jesus set it up to be.Besides preaching the word of God,there was a lot more to do,Help the homeless, care for widows and children. And I'm sure I'm leaving out some very important things. I find that people as a whole are a bunch of hypocrites, including me.I'm not perfect but I know Jesus died for me and everyone else.I don't attempt to say anyone is going to hell because its not my place to judge.I to am a sinner. So as a Christian, I'm telling you that we are all judged the same and the only one who counts is Jesus Christ and God.

My personal belief is that too many people forget that pride is a sin, and they get caught up in that whole "one true church" dogma and start thinking "We're Number One" like a bunch of Oakland Raiders fans.
They get so fired up about spreading the word and prosthylizing that they forget that they are supposed to be living it. Living the word, and setting the example, is the best way to spread God's love and will... not knocking on people's doors or making posts on Yahoo! Answers about how they are right and anyone who doesn't agree is going to burn in hell.
There are some very good Christians out there... unfortunately, except for a few, they are not the ones you'll see posting here in Yahoo! Answers. The ones you will normally see here are either looking to simply prosthylize, looking for an ego trip, or simply love to argue for arguments sake because they believe they are "fighting evil".

I did not fully understand that whole question. However I can tell you that a real christian has everyday struggles and sins everyday. No one is perfect and no one should ever claim to be. Some of the strongest Christians I know struggle and fall all the time. If you really know this religion you know God is a forgiving God. Jesus loves everyone including those he knew would claim to hate him. How could you not love somebody who loves you no matter what you do or how much you hate them?

Truly all people behave in an un-Christian manner sometimes or most of the time. The only reason why Christians are singled in on for that behavior is because we are the ones saying that people shouldn't behave in a bad manner. Most of us believe all people should behave in a Christian manner but many seem to only hold the standard up to Christians - you could have just as easily asked the question "Why are so many non-Christian people so non-Christian?" It's because we're all human - we all behave badly sometimes. And no that doesn't make it right but let's not just say the Christian people act in a bad way - we all do! :)

Most christian are double standard people, not all, but most. If a person fully followed everything that the bible says to do to enter into the gates of heaven, he or she would have to lock themselves into a padded room and take downers to prevent ill thoughts. What I don't understand about the bible is why would "God" set us up for failure? They will often say that God gave us "free will" as a comeback, but that is not free will because we have obstacles in this world that no matter how much we want to change it we can't. I say that's setting us up for failure! I don't trust anything that man has written that is not based on fact, they may say I am going straight to hell then so be it, because they will be there with me.

A true Christian doesn't hate anyone. The term Christian means someone who believes in and follows the teachings of Christ. He was the ultimate role model. He said the greatest command was to love each other. My life is a reflection of my belief in Christ. I try to show compassion, love, forgiveness, patience, and understanding to all human beings. The Bible does state that homosexuality is wrong. I didn't make the rule and I cannot change it. I don't hate homosexuals or racists or anyone else - and it is not my place to judge them. Jesus will do that in the end.
