I live in Manchester city centre and I have seen an influx in migrant workers from Eastern Europe. They do the jobs that nobody else wants to do, such as driving buses, street cleaning, etc... The majority of them are hard workers.

I would actually be interested to know exactly what percentage of immigrants actually do commit a crime when they come over to the UK . The figures in the British Crime survey released annually will certainly be interesting to see what minority of these immigrants commit a crime.

Some immigrants leave their own country to escape war, famine and persecution. Why let them be doubly punished when we have adequate punishment in this country?! I think that simply would not be fair.

IMO everyone has a right to a fair trial regardless of race, religion and background and if that is not possible in the immigrants home country then they should not be sent back to their country of origin.

Our UK legal system is underpinned by the ethos of "innocent until proven guilty", this to me makes it a better place for them to be punished as the punishment will be commensurate to the crime that has been committed.

How many times have the teenagers gone abroad and got into trouble on holiday? Its the serious crime that should be addressed and a system put in place Policing of immigrants and swiftly deported back to the point of entry out side the British shores France for example. The frog eating bas****d would think twice about turning a blind eye.

Illegals shold be deported anyway, as being an illegal immigrant(clue in the name)is breaking the law. If they are legal, I think that depends on the crime, how long they have been here, etc. I mean, Dave up there ^ been here since he was 3 months old, don;t think he should be deported for jumping lights. But then there are people who should have been deported but weren't and went on to commit further crimes.

Only if it was a serious crime or if they were here illegally.
If we get rid of all of the immigrant workers we would have no craftsmen in the country. We are having a big influx of eastern Europeans coming in to Britain at this moment in time to do the jobs that the Brits are no longer training for, such as Plumbers, Bricklayers, joiners, etc, etc. not to mention many other more high skilled jobs. Get rid of these, we also get rid of the European economy that goes with them.

As they shouldn't be here in the first place that would seem proper. They do it in Canada if you are convicted of an offense which carries a sentence of more than 2 years you are deported at the ned of your sentence. Why should the privileges of immigration be given to people who do not want to respect the society they have the priviliege to join. Canada is too soft. A criminal offence should be grounds for withdrawal of immigration rights.

Yes i do. They are guests of this country and should respect it, or go home. This place is too soft and all the immigrants know it. Surely if you are seeking asylum law states that you seek asylum in the first safe country you get to. We are an island how the f u c k did they get here. So your dam right they should.

Depends on the crime..
I Mean littering is a crime ..big difference from rape.
Maybe we should do what the US does and ask if anyone coming into the country has a criminal record ..maybe a points system.

I always thought one felony or two misdemeanours would be a good rule but things need tightening up now.

Illegals straight out. No right of appeal.

'Genuine' asylum seekers, straight out on a first offence. No appeal.

Bogus asylum seekers are illegals. Straight out. No appeal.

When I see some of these foreign looking types cutting in and queue jumping in traffic, my thoughts are that they should be removed. Not for the minor traffic offence, but because it is an indicator of the nasty pernicious type that they are.

Send them to Australia those were the days! - if enough immigration control was in place we would not be getting so many criminal immigrants. Prevention is better than cure so checks and controls on immigrants should be in place so that we have the space to lock up the few that become violent criminals.
