Last weekend I was eating a hamburger bun and I felt my ear pop. I originally thought it was my ear, but I guess I pulled a muscle or pulled my jaw or something out of place. So for about 5 minutes I couldn't shut my left jaw all the way if I tried shutting my right. In other words, It didn't hurt if I shut my left jaw down itself but if I tried to shut the right side, the left hurt really really bad. The pain was gone by about 30 minutes later and I could shut it. It only hurt if I chewed food on the right side of my mouth but not very bad. Eventually by Mon. it was totally gone. But last night it came back even worse and is still here right now. Is this something for the dentist or what?(By the way, If I push down with my finger on the side that hurts(left) it doesn't hurt at all, so I don't think it's a tooth or teeth)

I'm not positive who that would fall under. But call your dentist and tell them what you've told us. I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. Good luck. I had the same problem about 10 years ago, it never came back though and it sounds like it wasn't as bad as what you are experiencing. I never saw anyone about it. And haven't had any problems since. I recomend taking ibprofen and call first thing in the morning.

I would definitely go to the dentist. I have had similar problems, and it turns out I had been grinding my teeth, which leads to all kinds of problems. Now I have a fitted mouthguard that I wear at night and I am "cured." Good luck to you!

Yes, go to the dentist. You have described an injury to your TMJ joint and it needs attention sooner rather than later or it might not be possible to fix without surgery.

you probably should go to a doctor. Even if the pain stops, you should get it checked, just to be on the safe side

See an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) physician, also known as an Otorhinolaryngologist.
