He has never been a good commentator because he has never been able to express himself very well. A lack of formal education and obvious speaking skills is the cause. His poor mixture of Ebonics and standard English causes many problems for him. As a boxer he has seen his better days but probably could continue his craft for a few more years with lessor opponents

At this point Roy Jones is neither, he probably best at playing basketball right now more than anything else. Roy was exposed that he has no chin, when he was smaller he wasn't get that much, he was able to get out of the way of a lot of punches and counter well and he was never in one spot too long, then he has something to prove or just got lazy and staring packing on the pounds and becoming just that much slower and being just that much slower allows you to be hit just that much more and then............he was exposed. Winning the Heavyweight Championship of the World was no great feat against a very awkward, flat tomato Can like Ruiz. He was very, very good at one time, but not now. Great question!

Great question and great answers to that question.
Jones DOES make great commentator. Should he continue fighting? I don't think he has much choice.
Jones wants to be considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest fighter in history. A test of a great fighter is his ability to rise to adversity. He had it all his own way until the Tarver fights.
Jones' biggest mistake was not staying at heavyweight. The weight loss after the Ruiz fight damaged him physiologically. He wasn't shot overnight.
Staying at heavyweight was a no lose situation: If he fought and beat Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis, everyone would be in awe. If he lost against them, no big deal.
Now, with a body damaged by the weight loss, he has to try to define his legacy, rise to adversity and be dominant at 175 again.
It's gonna be interesting.

Great question and one that Roy should ask himself!!!!!!!...Bernard Hopkins is now retired and he was the last true champion in everyones opinion.
If we look at the current Lt-Heavy Champions like, Tomasz Adamek (WBC), Clinton Woods (IBF) Zsolt Erdei (WBO) and the WBA which has two champs, Tizzio and Silvio Branco, Roy could become a champion again, he has beaten Woods in the past, Tizzio and Branco would be very easy.....Zsolt Erdei and Adamek I think he should stay away from.....so in my humble opinion, its a bout equal in regards to Boxer or commentator...

good question? most boxers just won't hang it up , they always think better than what they are now. they want to turn back the clock, jut for one more, then one more. it's not the money now it's the ego. to bad .but as a commentator i like him. good talker , articulant, knowledgable. better as a commentator for sureeeeeeeeeee!

At this point, commentator is stronger. Would be not worth tarnishing the fighters star any further.
