Congratulations!!! I was married by a JP yesterday! I wore an ivory beaded dress, my husband wore an ivory tux with red accesories. When we arrived, there was a bridal party leaving and she had on a formal bridal gown including veil, and the couple that arrived after we left had on jeans and shorts. So you see, it is totally up to you! you can make it as formal or as laid back as you please, just as in a church or more traditional wedding, it is your day!!! Do as you please and are comfortable with.

And for the people who say you will regret it, you have no idea what the circumstances, situations, or income levels of other people are, so hush! Maybe the family tradition is to use JP, like their mother did. Again, a wedding is a very personal experience and should be tailored to suit the bride and groom. No one else's opinion matters!! Enjoy your day and God Bless!

I would coorinate outfits with the Justice. Should be easy... he/she will probably be wearing a cheap plaid button up shirt and jeans and cowboy boots. Don't overdress beyond the JP or he might get mad and refuse to take your $10 dollars. Also, you can pretend that the line outside his door waiting to get hitched is your wedding party so the best thing is to wear a Tube top, micro mini, and some flip flops... that way you will fit in more with the other folks waiting thier turn.

In all seriousness... it really doesn't matter because it's the freaking Justice of the Peace! Most cities don't even require these knuckleheads to even have a formal education.

get a nice dress a JC penny, walmart or sears, they have really nice dresses that look like a wedding dress but are under $200, or even a simply cocktail dress

Why not find a small church to get married in? The justice of the peace is not the way to do it. I realize it is your day but one day I think you will look back and regret it.
