A mental condition is an inner problem & demon possession would be an external influenced condition. Though I've studied some on Biblical things, this wasn't the topic of my research, so someone else will have to answer the rest of your questions.

Apparently a brain dysfunction can cause mental illness.

Demon possession is caused by the spirit world, attaching to a person to torment them.

Mentally ill people are more a victim of demon possession as they can be controlled easily.

Demons can possess *Normal* people also, as they obey Satan.

Soon God's Kingdom will destroy all demons in the Lake of Fire, and eventually Satan. The decision of Adam and Eve to live under their authority will be gone forever. Luke 4:6, Matthew 25:41.

a demon actually takes over your body, and a mental condition is all in your head. You have to think today science and medicine actually exist where as when the bible was spoken there was't anything but apothecaries. alot has changed over the course of history. if you do some research people we crazy and they did believe they were possed only becaue they didn't know anything different.

According to the Catholic church, a mental condition is a verifiable mental disease, whereas being demon possessed is something that they decide is a demonic possession. Basically it's up to wherever the church wants to draw the line...in reality, there is no such thing as demonic possesion so......

a person may not be "possessed by the devil" but he can be influenced by Satan in such a way that would resemble possession right (for the nay sayers).
How can you people say that demonic possession does not exist? That's absurd. I guess you do not beleive that there are evil spirits among us, waging war with us on every level.

people with mental problems have some form of possesion..children of light will not have these problems but demons are very persistent and will successfully invade even the most humbled..the best thing to do is to pray to Him when you wake to each day and then pray to Him before you go to sleep..
thereby you start off on the right foot and exit the day on a good note...those who need God will get help even if it doesn't seem like it..

2000 years of medical advancement is the difference. There was no explanation back then. We know differently now. This, by the way, is a good example why so many believe that reading the Bible literally is rediculous.

The difference is that mental disorders exist and demon possessions don't.
