Is there a hypo-allergenic dog shampoo on the market? I think my dog's small scabs all over his skin are from either his shampoo I'm currently using (just some brand from Target) or it's from his summer allergies. But, he's on antihistamines for that. And he does not have fleas. Is there a shampoo anyone could recommend for him? He's a golden retriever.

Oatmeal based shampoo's for dogs are available at most large pet supply stores.. If the shampoo your using is the culprit then switching to this should do the trick..

An aloe and oatmeal based shampoo can be very soothing. Scabs are an indication of infection. Sounds like the dog needs antibacterial shampoo and oral antibiotics. Check with the vet. Antihistamines will help in very mild cases of allergy, it sounds like he needs something a lot stronger.

Shampoos with oatmeal are usually soothing to a dog's skin irritations.
I got a good hypoallergenic shampoo from my vet, it's called: "efa HyLyt". You can get it from most of the pet supply catalogs and you don't need a prescription.

There are medicated shampoos for dogs. You can find them at places like Petsmart. Sounds like what you need. Good luck.

I use Tropiclean Natural Puppy and Kitten Shampoo. It only has oatmeal, aloe, coconut and vitamin E. I like it.

And I shampoo my puppy with it too :)

Anything with oatmeal will be good for the dog's skin.

Could be flea bites- roll the dog over and check his tummy for little scampering bugs. I hope it's not that.
