Why should Illegals with children get Special treatment? When a person breaks the law Knowingly they accept the risk of getting caught. If you have a family in America and ROB a bank or committee any type of crime. The justice system doesn't go O wait you have a KID we can't send you to prison and seperate you from your child that wouldn't be right. So why do Illegals Expect Special treatment? That lady in Chicage is attempting to use her kid as reason to stay. That's Exactly the same as ANY other criminal attempting to use there kid to stay out of Prison. It doesn't work for LEGAL: citizens and it certainly shouldn't apply to Illegals.

She makes me sick. Unfortunately many people in need of a tear jerking cause will support her. And the ones who should be deporting her are too scared of what people might say to go into the church and get her. I hope the next high profile criminal with US citizenship runs into the nearest church. You'll see that it won't work as well as what this 'poor poor woman' is doing. And she has a history of disregarding our laws!

Sarah Musicho--Are you really comparing being sent to Mexico to being sent to jail?! I must have misunderstood you.

Maybe the same standard of judging the illegal (vs. the prisoner) shouldn't be there, but it's surprising how many people in this country throw their support for the illegal. When a traditional criminal gets arrested or ''featured" we see a different kind of news reporting about him/her. When an illegal gets arrested and 'featured' in the paper, we see great pains by the media to show him as the hard worker, 5 nice kids with hair combed nicely, a wife with one on the way, and a story of how they only want to earn a living and share the american dream. Americans in general buy that concept and then begin a letter writing compaign to give special consideration for the 'featured' illegal, putting pressure on the government to not be so harsh, and then it gives the added perception that people support finding 'some way' to make the illegal a legal.

People don't really see the big picture or a significant reason to be too enforcement minded. Write a nice human interest story and the world will go to bat for the newly arrived immigrant, regardless how they got here.

There are a couple of reasons.

1-When you have such a HUGE NUMBER of people breaking the law that it's virtually impossible to enforce the law, then sometimes the Powers That Be just throw up their hands and give up. (Remember: That's what happened with Prohibition.)

2-There is a confusion, in many people's minds, between enforcing the law and being racist. Any speaking out against undocumented immigrants is interprepted (by most Caucasian progressive liberals) as anti-Latino prejudice on the part of the speaker. And it IS true that lots of folks just plain don't like Latinos...or maybe they simply hate their gangs (I hate all gangs, of all varieties--not just the Latino ones, myself ), or they cringe when allowances have to be made for folks who don't speak English (which could be true of ANY immigrant groups--legal or illegal, BTW), or they dislike the common and widespread anti-assimilationist attitude that many Latinos seem to have...But there are plenty of reasons to speak out against undocumented aliens that have absolutely nothing to do with racial and/or cultural prejudice.

3-As far as kids go, THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES itself clearly states that anyone who's born here is a citizen. But parents shouldn't ever use their kids as a ploy to be allowed to stay here. Does anyone here remember that old tale about King Solomon and the two mothers who claimed one child as their own? Solomon knew that the REAL mother would care primarily for the welfare of her child and put her own interests second. So he tested the two women by saying that he'd cut the kid in two and let each woman have half. He knew that the REAL mother would tell him to just let the child stay whole and go with the other woman, because she'd care about the child more than she'd care about herself. Well, *I* think that if our government were to say, "Sure, your kid is a citizen and s/he can stay here, but if s/he stays here, then s/he has to go to an orphanage, because we're gonna deport your sorry, undocumented, illegal a--! So...are you taking the kid back with you to your native country, or not?" then maybe those women would stop using babies as a ploy to remain here and get around our laws. And I'm sure that thousands of childless homes would love to adopt all of those Latino babies if their moms didn't want to go back home with them.

Children should be, after all, children--not a "means to an end"!

No illegal criminal is getting special treatment, and they are not expecting it either. If u really think about it it's the opposite. If a person is caught doing a crime no matter what they will serve time. If the criminal is an illegal then deportation is brought up. In her case, which I haven't heard the story, but she's probably facing deportation and if she has a case then she can actually get permanent residency through her children that are U.S. citizens and that's probably why she's using them as an excuse.

Cause some illegals are serving the community by working in the fields, cleaning hotel rooms, offices etc.,
You can also see that they own the keys to many corporate offices and mostly everything will be kept clean and intact the next morning when you come in.
They also all true followers of a religion and follow the rules by the God and not just the Law defined by human courts.

Tell me how many of you do not think the Law must be changed to date? Would you think of the same about Laws accepted/defined by a religion and the supreme power?

Finally, yes I agree the Chicago woman must care for herself and defend herself and prove her worth in this country than just using her son to shield her.

Illegals as you call them are simply trying to better themselves and provide a future for their family. I assume if you have a family you would want to do the same. They are not committing a crime against property or the person they are breaking a law which comes into conflict with their duty to their families. What would you choose? In most countries where there is an illegal immigrant problem they already support the economy by working and if allowed would actually pay taxes and contribute to your future well-being.

If she were so religious she would own up to the fact -that she is in the wrong. Corruption on her part and that Church. That Church should not be helping--this is not a case of someone asking the women to break God's laws (murder, thief, adultery ect). So the church is wrong to protect her. Does this church protect men who do not want to kill in a war (not just cowards but truly religious men)?
I am going to call both the Church (and all of its Overseers) and ICE and demand some answers.
And your right do other criminals get out of jail free cards?
This is a disgrace and shows the "true lack of morals this women has.

One difference is that although they illegally entered, our country has, in fact, tacitly or implicitly allowed it, and has been complicit in the illegality. Why? Because so many businesses, large and small, hire these workers knowing they are illegal. And families hire them as well, for housecleaning, yardwork, etc. And the government and law enforcement agencies purposely gave a wink and a nod that it was OK for them to come, even though on the books it said otherwise. (I won't even count the fact that all of us, i.e., the entire economy, benefits from the illegals working here, and so we all have, in this weak sense, been complicit.)

Because not all crimes are the same.

Driving without insurance is different than stealing a car and different than killing someone. Driving without insurance to get your pregnant wife to the hospital is different than drag racing on the freeway without insurance.

Context matters. Especially when there are potential justifications for actions, and especially when the law recognizes such factors when making decisions as to guilt and punishment.

Every crime is not the same. Each one needs to be addressed according to the laws as it applies that that crime.

because their no longer coming in droves, their no longer status on highway corners searching for artwork, no body is smuggling them in, theirs no longer 12 million unlawful Canadians residing in the U.S. their no longer illiterate, or residing off our welfare equipment, they talk English, and they likely have some form of ability. Canadians are not any more desirable helpful then everybody else. i'm very fearful about the Canadian border, I desire we had a large fence with Canada also, yet that border is way higher than the single with Mexico, it spans for the length of all of our northern border, it really is basically too vast. and by no skill all Canadians are white.
