We are budgeting $5000 for a church wedding/sit down dinner for 150 people at a banquet hall and $2000 for the honeymoon. We are having a friend do our photography and music and my future sister-in-law editing our wedding video and decorating the cake, and we are assembling the flowers ourselves. Plus we are printing our own invites and having a simple BBQ for the rehearsal dinner.

I (bride) am getting married in Key West next May 2007, and it will cost about $3400 for the ceremony, 3 tier cake, photo package, harpist, flower arch, dove release, sand ceremony, unity candle ceremony, chairs, all flowers. The reception will be $50 per person. We have 50 guests... And we are doing a Sandals resort for the honeymoon in St. Lucia which is about $5000 (that includes airfare). The grand total is under $12,000. Destination Weddings are the way to go. Most wedings today cost around $20,000. That is the current national average. We used www.lazyway.com! They are awesome in Key West!

The price tag on my wedding was about $3,000.
We had the wedding of our dreams. All we paid for was my dress, shoes, the place we tied the knot, ,the cake topper, the bar tab and the photographer.
Because of the time of year we got married we did not ask for gifts but our friends and family wanted to give us something so...
-the maid of honor paid for our wedding video
-the best man paid for the dj
-my mother made my veil, and the bouquets for me and my girls
-our dance instructor made boutonnieres for the guys and the corsage for my mother
-the mom of a close friend worked in a bakery so she made our cake and gave it as a gift it was awsome
-my aunt did my hair and the hair of 2 or my 3 girls
-someone made centerpieces for the tables
We got married at a holiday inn so our hotel stay was free
So what could have easily been $10,000 was $7,000 less. As long as the minister was legit and our rings were blessed it was all good.

This is probably not what you want to hear... My entire wedding cost under a thousand bucks and it was very nice with all our family and close friends. I know so many people want this great big fairy tale wedding with all the frills, but we wanted a house and frankly, spending tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding just seems ridiculous to me. A wedding is one day and all that money is just gone when it could be used to really secure a great start to your lives together. Opt for a very low key wedding event and a decent honeymoon. Then take a fabulous trip after you've been married say 25 years!!!!

Our wedding cost under £200.00 at the most ( 1999 ), and that even included the sausages etc that we cooked on our campfire in the night, it was perfect in everyway and if we were doing it all again there isn't one thing about it that we would change. It seems that people like to try to outdo others by seeing who can spend the most money, it's totally ridiculous and very shallow. Marriage is not about money but about commitment, love, honesty and friendship, all these things seem to be swallowed up by dollars or pounds.

It really depends on what you want to be included. I use to be a wedding coordinator and we had weddings starting at $2,000 for the very basic with 50 guests and it went up from there.
The location, food, cake, # of guests, favors, decorations, alcohol, etc, if you have a coordinator are all things to take into consideration. It really depends on you.
Good Luck!
Any questions you can email me.

We were married at a 1920s theater.
Theater: 3200
Flowers: 80 (Hobby Lobby--on sale)
Decorations: 0 (theater already gorgeous)
Rentals: 0 (theater already has them)
Cake: 300 (we hunted)
Photos: 800 (ala cart--600 for taking the picture for 3 hours and then 200 for prints)
Food: around 1500 (arranged through theater)
Band: 500 (friends of the family)
Dress: 900 (my splurge)
We budgetted around $8000.
And...that was it. We did everything else on our own, including creating our own invites. (invites were paid for by my mother-in-law)

I am getting married at a lodge next May with 150 guests. The lodge is about $4,000 but I am bringing the grand total under $5,500.
It's all about creativity and clearance!!
