I am a convert to Christianity from nothing. I was converted by a fundamentalist preacher. However, since most of what he had to say sounded pretty dumb, I did my own research. I read Luther and to a lesser extent Calvin. Luther convinced me to become Catholic. I attend part of the Catholic Church which part of the Eastern Church.

I don't belong to any particular group, or category. I am very much a believer, but prefer to make my own conclusions. I believe every religion has merit, just as every religion does not have all the answers. If you study, you will find that the major religions have all the basic message, love each other, and take care of each other. Treat each other with respect and value...things that most followers of the major religions fail to do. I go to many different churches, most of the time it is because I don't do clicks. When people start wanting to come over to my house, I move along. I have peace in my home and prefer not to have negative energy brought to it.....even well meaning people will sometimes bring bad energy in. They think they are right and you are wrong. I don't like the narrowmindedness that follows along with that. My parents were both Baptists. I chose a different avenue for my spirituality. Very good question. Nana

I am a Jehovah's Witness. My Mom is a Methodist and my Dad was not at all religious as I recall. I was raised as a Methodist and when I was a teen I was allowed to visit other churches and choose my own faith. I became disillusioned with religion when the minister of the Church of Christ I was attending, asked me to lie to a young man for a while and pretend to be interested in him still--until they could get him baptized. As I young adult I started searching again but as I read the Bible and compared the teachings of the churches I attended with the things I was learning, I was again discouraged. I narrowed my search with a question I had decided that no one could answer. When I was 30, I got a knock at the door and because of a near tragedy just moments before, I know I had a horrible look on my face. The man standing at the door appologized and closed his Bible, but I wanted to know what he wanted. He asked me if there was anything in the Bible I had always wondered about. I told him yes and asked my question. He took me immediately to the Bible and showed me several scriptures that plainly answered the question which had stumped ministers in every religion I had ever examined. I wanted to know more, so I studied and asked questions trying to prove him wrong for the next 7 years. I couldn't do it, so the 8th year I studied to become a Jehovah's Witness and got baptized. Now I teach others what the Bible truly says by showing them the same scriptures I was shown and more.

I am an Atheist currently (though some would argue that I am more Agnostic).

My parents had almost nothing to do with my choice of religion (or lack thereof). I grew up Methodist, and I have extensively studied Catholicism, Presbyterian, Methodist, Mormonism, and the Lutheran faith. I have looked into Wicca, Satanism, Judaism and several others. I have also studied Scientology. Basically, I have found them all to be far-fetched, superstitious nonsense.

No true that people follow the religions of their parents. God guided me towards Qur'an and after reading and understanding the message I chose to be a Muslim. There are plenty of children of Christian parents who has accepted Islam.

It is God who provide guidance.

I'm of a religion completely different from my parents and the rest of my family, including extended family. But I'm not otherwise that much of an oddball. :)

I am a Christian. I believe in and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I was not brainwashed to believe in Christ. I was not forced to attend church as a child. I chose to seek the Lord as an adult. I believe in Him because I was baptized (not by water but) by the Holy Spirit. I have felt the presence of the Lord in my church and in times of need. I don't believe because I'm afraid of hell, but because I seek eternal life in the Lord's kingdom. My life is a reflection of my beliefs.
