Some people may believe we are nothing more than this physical or biologocal body.Well I want them and others to read this completely and share their views.
Normal people(wether religious or not,believer in god or not) become happy after they do a good act, even if their action can't be justified by materialistic laws , for example sacrifising one's self for another person, or to give your kidney to someone else for free.
And they will get sad in their hearts when they do something evil , even if they make a good money(that their actions are justifyable by materialistic laws) ofcourse I am talking about 'normal' people whose heart hasn't changed dramatically.
So if we read between the lines it proves there is something more than this physical world it proves reward and consequence for our actions. >>
this is a feeling so deep in our heart(deeper than one can say because they were taught it in the school when they were child), it is deep there.
Just like we love and want the beauty , we love good acts( even if they dont make sense with materialistic laws).
you know, when something is in our heart there is a response outside, if there is the hunger inside ,there is food outside. if there is the need of love inside ,there is marriage and love outside.For every natural need or tendency or feeling that we have inside our hearts ,there is a response a satisfaction outside. the response to this feeling is that there is more than
this world, there is reward and consequenses.
Things make sense.
If we admire sombody when he get killed, trying to rescue somebody else which doesnt make sense by the physical laws,it means our hearts knows that there is more than this physical world.even if some people has become unbelievers and consciously deny it while their hearts unconsciously act in according to spritual laws.
and yes when god created us he put this in our heart.
Note that I dont say non-belivers dont do good acts,some of them do,beacause the truth is in their hearts but they consciously deny it.and sometimes they act in according to spritual laws without paying attention to it.
peace to you all
a muslim friend.

I am tired I meant
well I should add that I am **NOT** saying that God will forigve nonbelievers because of their
good deeds. but I just said these things about their actions to prove my point, that

to scif Guy:
look I made a typing mistake and corrected it. by my correct statement ( I am not saying that god will forgive....)
you cant draw that "God will ignore those acts" , nor you can draw that "it is enough that God forgive their sins with it".
"I am not saying" .. means the aim of this
question is something else....that i explained it is to show that there is another world.
I just did not talk about that matter in this question

You haven't said anything that can't be illustrated just as eloquently through behavioral and social sciences. We truly are a product of our environment and our psyches are shaped continually by it from the cradle to the grave. This doesn't mean there is no supreme being or that the universe itself might be a living organism with an ultimate consciousness which easily transcends our own but I really do have to question religion as stringently as I would any other unproved theory or hypothesis. As to the validity of faiths and beliefs I can't say anyone is wrong for what they believe but I can say that I do not follow any religion and my concept of the ultimate power of the universe isn't based on religious dogma. To each their own....peace to you.

If a soul is necessary for anything you've described, then some of the artificial intelligence computer programs I've written somehow managed to obtain a soul.

Nothing you've described necessitates a spiritual realm.

A note on your edit:

It's interesting how you find it so absolutely necessary to claim that God will ignore people's actions and punish or reward them solely based on their belief in him. If that is true, then God is the most selfish and egotistical sadist imaginable. Since you believe in him and worship him, you must be a sadist as well.

Don't worship evil. Only an evil God would punish someone who helps others but doesn't believe in him.

give it a break buddy. I was raised in church. Church camp every summer, church 2 times a week. All that stop when I got old enouph to know better. I am not going to believe something just because some one tells me it. believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. All of that with the bible and all is just to far fetched for me.I know ,I know you will pray for me. No belief. I wasnt hear and I don't know. I just don't have blind faith. God, good, orderly, direction, follow the bible and you cant go wrong in life so to all believers keep believing and keep doing as the bible says. It will help to make the world a better place. Not me not now.

I am a non-believer and I am a law abiding citizen who frequently pays it forward and I don't believe it is becouse of some mysterious force that I can't see. I have emotions b/c I have a brain and was brought up with love. I don't think that if you are a "non-beliver" that automatically makes you a sociopath. Thank You

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

it is simply a chemical reaction when you feel good about helping someone. by the way, hunger is a natural response of the brain, not the heart. love is a chemical reaction resulting from a strong bond

I think I have higher morals than you Christians or Musilms, etc., because you need a reward for being good - going to heaven. Mine is just because I enjoy life more and my contacts with other people, I do them good and they are good to me as well!

Whoever told you unbelievers think we're just physical things? Most unbelievers I know (including myself) think differently. We only don't think a god made us. But that's SOOOO different.
