This link is to the local Maine news paper about this animal that has been killing dogs for years in maine. It was found dead. It has its picture. No one knows what this animal is. I think it looks like some type of Wild Boar crossed with a dog. I doubt thats possible..What is your guess on what this is?

I think it's a wild dog. It has hair that looks a lot like a chow's. Sadly, I think it's just a dog that never had an owner to care for it.

It looks like a wolf with a birth defect, which is not all that uncommon, in area like maine where wolves live inbreeding occures quite a bit, which can cause wild and unpredictable birth defects, the animal may be a juvenile because of its defect. But glowing eyes occur when light entering a cat or dogs eyes reflects back. Also its ears are verticle and point which hints at better hunting ability. The teeth from what I can see are very similar to Canine in nature. The animals features are too distorted and odd for it to be a natural breed of any kinds. The accounts also point to wolves as the culprits and the discovery of this animal seems more like a scapegoat than anything else.

I'm in Maine and have been following this story. The photo doesn't look like a bear, so I'm voting for the mixed dog gone wild theory.

I;m really good on breeds of dogs and I'd say that this is chow or chow mix, since it was described as smelling really bad I'd say it had mange I saw that they sent off some DNA, can't wait for results

You have heard of deformed humans, right, so why should dogs and other animals be any different?
