Thanks for the post. I'm with DAR on this, though. The numbers don't seem high enough to me - it seems that I've read in the news that there are still many more coming into the country illegally than are being deported, so we are still getting further and further behind, if this info is accurate. However, it is a start and hopefully things will continue to snowball. We have to at least get to the point where we are removing more than are actually coming in, before we will begin making any real headway here. Continuing to pursue sealing up the borders may help these numbers, as well as hitting the employers more and more and with far heftier fines. Also, the individual cities enacting their own laws against illegal immigration will be a huge help here. Soon all the illegals will be flooding the cities who do NOT make their own laws and/or declare themselves "sanctuaries" for illegals. Once they find themselves with more illegal immigrants than they can support and no financial help from the Federal government, these hold-out cities will also get on board the deportation bandwagon.

"The United States is a land of opportunity, but it is also a nation of laws," said Assistant Secretary Myers. "As such, an immigration judge's order of removal is not optional and must be followed. The addition of these new fugitive teams increases ICE's ability to aggressively pursue immigration violators as part of our nationwide interior enforcement strategy."
Three thoughts on this:
One, at one time it was illegal for African American to ride in the from seats of public transportation. That has been changed.
Two, the law has been broken by many, and to chase down the undocumented person is the most visible, and least effective way of addressing the issue. ICE needs to address the employers who hires these people, knowingly, and all the "wink and nod" institutions who knowingly support them while they are here.
Three, the real problem is in Mexico, not here in the US. The issues in Mexico have to be addressed so that these people do not have to come here to the US to find decent employment.

It is happening more and more. I would work on getting legal while there is still a chance if I were illegal. If they have a job now and have a good record there is a chance for them. But time is running out and things are accelerating. And the majority of Americans are starting to push back. Too bad those who feel their are helping with their foolish protest and other things don't realize what harm they are doing.
Good posts yar--thumps up for you.

Thanks for the link, yars, that is good news.
The cynical side of me says that is ony 52,000 a year, and that 302,000 will be convicted in our state and local prisons this year where they aren't currently deported at the end of their terms. (Homeland Security estimate.) If they sent those back it would be 6 times as much as we are sending back with these teams. So are they really trying?
Not that we don't need the teams, but I am still waiting to see them get the low hanging fruit before I think they may really be serious about enforcement.

I am so sure 95% of them will simply sneak right back across.45 is a good start but shouldn't that be like a higher number due to the extent of this problem?

Well I live in SanDeigo and and a few weeks ago they cleaned out the canyons and encampments of illegal aliens, all they are doing is finding them a place to live, they did not call ICE or border patrol. so I don't believe that artical they no where they live here and they do nothing.
