My local Junior High makes the kids stand outside facing the building holding their lunch tray while they eat. I live in the south and at 11:30 am on most August days the temperature is in the high 90's. Does the punishment seem harsh ?

It doesn't sound HARSH, it just sounds unfair. When I was in high school, detention was called "The Choice Room" where you went after you "chose" to break the rules. And if you were in the choice room during lunch period, the teacher would take us to the lunch room where we had to sit at a certain table and were not allowed to talk. That's all. Your school's punishment sounds gay though.

We have silent lunch, the kids have to get their lunch and take it to another room and eat without speaking and stay there until lunch break is over. Call the school. If you don't approve they are not supposed to do it again. You always have the final say, even at the school. I live in SC.
